Hello Rotarians and Friends of Rotary

 

First, l would like to thank the Rotary club of Dromana, we had our Fundraising event last Saturday night , and with great success we raised over $15,000.00 dollars, final figures will be put in next weeks bulletin as we are still collecting an awaiting donation cheques, all Rotarians chipped in to help setting up dishing up and passing out meals, cleaning up etc, most Rotarians left between 12.00 and 1.00 in the morning.

A big thank you to Bob and Freda Donaldson for there support andall the help they gave on the night as well as organizing this event with Mary and myself, it couldn't of been done without there support, there are other Rotarians like Terry and Alan Clark -Burrows, that not only gave financialy in gifts etc, but also stayed all afternoon and helped set up, others like David and Ann, Rick and Carol, Tony Viney, Ray BB, Mike, Geoff , chris, David J, Ross ,John B , Greg , Merv and Harry, and I'm sorry if l missed any.

All the rest helped during the event were ever they could, I'm proud to be a Rotarian in this community.

Director Bob,  spoke about the community gardens In  Dromana, Geoff is getting plans approved, the art show is still up in the air, Bob to set up a meeting with Bruce Mesley , the Dromana Primary School Principal, and also putting it on social media.

 

Director Chris , spoke about Youth exchange,  Terry and Alan put there name up to host a student, great effort from these 2 new members.

Also mentioned RYPEN, this program will run between Dromana and Rye/Rosebud Rotary Clubs from 2018 till 2020,  Bob suggested a sub Committee to formaly arrange the project.

 

Member Ray, spoke about the AGM for the Australia day committee,  they are still looking for a president. 

 

On the sad news of ex member Sue cashen's daughters funeral, David and Ann Buchanan, Lyn Lewis attended on our clubs behalf.

 

Member John Barnes, spoke about working with children and all the necessary police checks that members need to do.

 

Bob won lotto, and Sargeant Murry fined every one again, l think if you have a pulse he will find a reason to fine you.

 

Guest speaker  for the nignt was new member Tony Viney, he has plans to start a farmers market down near the information centre in Dromana, he is looking to have around 40 permanent stall from November till around April/May, he has spent a lot of time with the shire and re searching when would be the best dates to do it,so it doesn't clash with other markets,  he said we can put coffee, plants, fruit and veg and even have casual stalls, this would be a great idea, as Terry said to broaden the awarness of what Rotary actually does, and maybe even get new members to our club, it was a great discusion talk  bye Tony and I'm sure it will be followed up.
