His Father decided to send him to Australia for his safety, so he moved to Adelaide, then onto Shepparton area to live with a friend. Michael has 3 sisters and one brother, he went to primary school in Belfast, then went on to college, Michael wanted to be a journalist. Michael did a course in Journalism, he had to use an old fashion typewriter. He said he grew up with the local police station in Northern Island surrounded by sand bags and police with sub machine guns. He said you also had to check your car every day for bombs. He also represented his country in sports, including Manchester United but after braking both legs was asked to leave, but one of Michael's fondest memories was training with the immortal Georgie Best. When he landed in Australia he worked for Harris Scarf for a while then moved to Ardmona. He said in Shepparton at night he got a job in a pub serving alcohol after the curfew hours of 6.00pm. he also got called up for national service while living her in July 1976 to Puckapunyal, Sydney then to Balcombe. He then went to training in Queensland, witch he hatted, it said it probably saved his life but would rather do 12 month in Vietnam rather than do that training again. He also said in one attack a bomb landed in the building they were in, but didn't go of, he also got shrapnel in his leg. Michael went on to give an in depth talk on his life, it was very interesting and all members got a lot out his talk.
