President's Message
member photo
Our Committees Meeting was held at the Jetty Road Brewery this week and can be counted as a success even though some of the Committees were lacking Members. It's early days in our efforts to re-vitalise the Club Committees but a good start.

This week is our next Social Night, so we hope to see more Members and Friends back at Jetty Road Brewery.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

After the Toast and Invocation President Mike began the Meeting by welcoming back Wayne Higgs and then remarking on how gratifying it was to have some feedback from Jeremy (SPSC) last week about how the Club’s donations help in their work. He thanked all those for attending and reminded the Meeting that next week is a Social Night and recommended that those who come along invite more people to make it a convivial night.

Mick now called for the Secretary/Treasurers Report.
Mark announced:
  • The next Board Meeting was scheduled for 7th May;
  • Board Handover will be held on the 6th June;
  • The Board has suggested that the venue for Social Night be varied;
  • District Handover will be on 25th May;
  • Club Handover Night is on the 26th June; and
  • Australian Rotary Health are canvassing for funds.
Mick called for Directors Reports and Charles announced that Rotary Australia will be having another film night.

It was announced that there had been discussions held with the Shire with regards to the Market closing for Winter. No objections had been raised but a formal notice of acceptance is being awaited.

Joseph now outlined the strategy that is being proposed for the expansion of the Club Corporate Sponsorship offering. The Meeting discussed the proposal and welcomed the expanded approach. It is planned that the launch of this new offering will coincide with the launch of the re-vamped Market in Spring.

Further discussion centred on the Club’s involvement with the Catalyst Tinyhouse project and the identification of available spare land.

As this was, specifically, a Committees Meeting, several of the Committees now gave updates:
  • Community Services – Plans have been submitted to close in the structure at the Community Gardens so it can be used all-weather;
  • Youth – A talk on the use of the Skyhydrant is to be given at the Dromana Secondary College;
  • Fundraising – Are asking the wider Club Membership to think of more/new ways to generate money; and
  • International – Announced that the purchase of impregnated mozzie nets is underway.
Mick finished the Meeting at 7:55.

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.
