Member Tony sent this. Good news about the Market Application
The State Government Election is on 24 November 2018 and it may delay State approval for the market due to government being in caretaker mode during the election period.
Normal practice is that Council approves the market before council forwards its findings to State Government for its approval. However, the next Council Meeting is on 9 October 2018 where Council Officers will present a report on the market seeking council approval to enter into a licence for a term of 10 years over the Crown Land reserve where the Dromana Tourist office is located.
Council preempted the potential problem with the upcoming sate election and bypassed normal protocol and contacted government seeking approval for the market to be conducted on State land “Before ” the next council meeting schedule for 9 October.
Council has received the "Grant and Purpose Approval” from the State Government Minister’s Delegate (essentially state approval to be signed by the appropriate State Minister) for the Dromana Community Market.
The next step is that council is to provide the Club with the draft licence for review prior to council agreeing to enter into to a long term licence that is expected to be in place by November.
As a matter of caution I am expecting that the club will still have to finalise the One Time Event applications to ensure the first market will be conducted on the 4th Saturday in November 2018.
Thankfully the application process is coming to an end and its now full steam ahead in the planning and implementation.
Director Rick added this to Bob’s GIG. Bob Donaldson's Gig raised a couple of questions. The answer is found in this article.

THE GUEST SPEAKER
Tonight’s Guest speaker was Greg Fitzgerald who spoke about the track under the chairlift and how he wants to make it a proper walking trail and wanted to know if Dromana Rotary and ABCD were interested in contributing and doing it, he said it would be a good tourist boost for the area, also benefitting the Eagle chair lift with people either walking up and getting the chairlift down or vice versa, Greg said the eagle wasn’t interested in helping towards this project at his time, Greg will continue to push to get this project done, Greg showed a number of slides , it was a good talk that went very quickly as he wanted to go home and watch the Tigers football game.
Pres Peter finished the meeting at 7.45 so everyone could go home.
