Last weeks Meeting

Our Guest Speaker Malcolm is a subcontractor to Melbourne water, and among other things, is responsible for helping land holders on the Peninsula that have streams flowing through their properties.

The State government through Melbourne Water encourages land owners to fence their boundaries to restrict their flocks or herds wading into the streams and stirring up the mud and polluting the water with their urine and faeces.

Also the land holders are encouraged to remove weeds along the stream side and replace them with indigenous plants, that is those native to the area.

This encouragement is in the form a Grant from Melbourne water, to fund the work and purchase of materials such as fencing and plants etc; and it is Malcolm's responsibility to encourage land holders to apply for the grants and follow up to assess the success of the project.

The BIG EVENT

We all held our breath as Cr Antonella drew the raffle prizes. Not surprising no members managed to win. Although I believe Brenton does know the second prize winner.

So a BIG job is over and Chris Booth can sleep well after a a long intensive campaign to the the sales up. Congratulations Chris!

Cluster Dinner for East Gippsland Fire Relief

ADG Steve Daly announced that on Wednesday 15 April a Rotary Bushfire Appeal Dinner will be held at the New Peninsula Centre, Baptist Church, 370 Craigie Road, Mt Martha.

As you would be aware our own Mary Anderson is in the process of organising our Monster evening for the same cause, to take place on the 2nd May, but we would be great if we could organise a table or two for this event as well.
