Hello Rotarians and Friends
Before l start, the first thing the club did was a one minutes silence for the passing of Les Liddell, Les was one of the first to start the Dromana Rotary club, he was a charter member, a Paul Harris Fellow with many awards, he was a wealth of knowledge in the operating of the club and its rules and regulations, he was from what l was told a very good mathematician, he will be sadly missed.
The Funeral was on Friday 13th Jan at St Marks church at 2pm followed by coffee and nibbles at the Peninsula club Gibson st Dromana, all available members were asked to attend and David Jarmen was going to give a talk about Les at the church Service, as David was also a chartered member of our club.
Thursday nights meeting started by chairperson Lyn and handed over to President Ross.
Pres Ross introduced all our guests and potential new members to our club.
We were also lucky to have Lynda Morris with us.
Secretary Bob mentioned a out the Polio cinema night and asked if members were interested, we all agreed we should do this fundraising event.
Director Rick, mentioned and showed us on the screen the breakdown of the Art show, Halloween, Christmas carols and trailer raffle and how it all was going financially.
Greg mentioned the pump track and its next stage and how someone from the shire had left.
Director Rob mentioned one of the donations to the trailer raffle which was sea sole, and left us all with brochures.
Lotto was done and won by Terri, one of our guests.
Fine session was very productive as usual.
Our guest speaker for the evening was Russell Calley from the ambulance service in, he was giving a talk about the ice epidemic that is currently affecting our society, l could just imagine the stories he would of told on the evening and members would of appreciated what he had to say, l was unable to stay and listen as l had an appointment to go to.
Dinner for the night was Roast beef and vegies, veg meal was quiche with salad,
