President's Message
member photo
To all Members,

This will be my last address to you. Next Wednesday we will have a new President in Peter Collins.

Last Wednesday our meeting was used to elect Deputies for the Portfolio Chairs. They will be finalised in the new year.

Pauline Porcaro resigned due to family commitments and was replaced by Peter Anderson. Thank you Peter.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all club members for their support throughout my Presidency.

I congratulate President Elect Peter Collins and his Board of Directors and wish them all the very best.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

This Meeting was to discuss and plan the distribution and functionality of the Club Committees.

The discussion was constructive and the following decisions were made and ratified by the Meeting:
  • Each Portfolio will have a Director and a 2IC;
  • Members will be seconded to a Project on an “as needs” basis;
  • When a Project is identified it will need to be accepted by the President, then the Members and then the Board;
  • An accepted Project will then be assigned to a Portfolio; and
  • Projects can support ideas originating from the Community.
The following Portfolios were assigned:
  • International/Foundation – Director is Tony with Harry as 2IC;
  • Club Service/Membership/Fundraising – Director is Chris with Andrew as 2IC;
  • Public Image/Promotion/Publicity – Director is Pete A with Marion as 2IC;
  • Community Service/Vocational Service/Youth – Director is Greg with Joseph as Youth 2IC and Charles as Services 2IC.
Charles will also arrange Meeting Guest Speakers and Joseph will also arrange Fellowship/Social nights.

The General discussions raised the following points/issues:
  • Based on the experience from the Friends of Hillview Reserve Facebook group, Facebook requires constant posting and updates to generate interest;
  • The Club should promote the message of “Got an Idea? Tell Dromana Rotary” to our community;
  • The Hope Bags have been renamed to Happy Bags;
  • Our Spinners need regular maintenance and management. This was assigned to Peter C and Merv;
  • Market planning is underway;
  • Halloween planning is underway;
  • Xmas Carols planning is to be addressed by either Merv or Mark;
  • Australia Day celebrations are, once again, assigned to Charles; and
  • The development of the Bunger Walking Track/Circuit was raised as a possible Project as this could be a tourist drawcard. It would be a formal Track with information and signage.
Once again, time got away on us and the Meeting was closed at 8:15.

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.
