Happenings at last week’s Meeting
On the tail end of the Board Meeting, we prepared the hall for the regular Club Meeting.
After the Toast and Invocation, Charles handed the Meeting over to Ross as this week’s Chair.
As there was no Guest Speaker, in a departure form the norm, the Chair called for a volunteer Speaker. Greg was nominated and accepted.
Greg spoke about the Tiny House Project which was nearing its testing phase and handover:
- Two years ago, the idea started but didn’t really gain much traction;
- Simon Brooks had a design which revived the idea;
- Simon is a perfectionist and has made sure that this version is probably overengineered;
- With the handover top the Salvos the trialling of the concept will now begin with the following questions upmost;
- How will the House production be upscaled?
- Can the Salvos handle this one and more?
- The problem which we are trying to alleviate, homelessness, is extensive and growing; and
- Future planning will encompass both the legal and physical/mechanical.
After an enthusiastic Q&A session, the Chair thanked Greg for volunteering and the Meeting settled down to another large meal.

Eventually we were able to finish the repast and re-start the Meeting.
The Chair now called for the Presidents Report.
Charles began by thanking all those who had contributed to the Club for this year. He noted that there had been some missed opportunities but generally we had had a good year. As his years as President were coming to an end (“not yet” shouts from the floor) he would like to thank everyone for their support.
Next was the Secretary’s Report.
Wayne began by calling out various Membership milestones. Next:
- He announced that Murray Dart had been elected as an Honorary Member;
- He commended our new venue and the very good catering;
- The Board has allocated the following:
- $500 toward Gabi Terry at Dromana Primary School “Sanctuary”;
- $500 to the Hillside Reserve restoration; and
- $5000 seed money for the Peninsular Hope Bags Project.
- Next week’s Meeting will be to discuss next year’s Committees; and
- Subs are due.
The Treasurer’s Report was next, with Merv thanking Joseph for his invitation to the latest Wine Lovers Night. He also called for those who intended coming to the Tiny House launch.
The Chair called for any Directors Reports.
Pauline announced that the Club social media results were successful. She also announced that she was dropping her Rotary commitments and returning to Melbourne.
Lotto was drawn and won by Peter C (at last!!), and then we had a Pete A give a typical Pete-like Fines session, handing out 11 fines.
Time had got away on us and Ross quickly closed the Meeting at 8:05.
