This week was the last official Meeting for the year and Charles began by welcoming a guest, Leonne Benton, and then calling for the Toast and Invocation. He then introduced Mark as this week’s Guest Speaker and handed the Meeting over to the Chair, Lyn.

 

Lyn read out the apologies, many of whom were absent for medical reasons (All the best. Ed) and then handed the Meeting over to Mark.

 

Mark’s topic was the Rotary Foundation. He explained that this was a topic which needed to be re-visited from time to time to remind the Club of the history and accomplishments of the Foundation.

 

(I will cheat at this point. Instead of re-typing the information from the slides that Mark presented, I will reproduce the slides themselves. After all, Mark's efforts at creating them shouldn't go to waste. Ed)

 

 

Mark noted that the $26.50 in 1917 would have been quite a hefty contribution.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mark also pointed out that the “Plus” in the Polio Plus program is so much more than just the inoculations. It includes various infrastructure efforts throughout the world.

 

After some discussions and clarifications Mark, as an official Guest Speaker, was awarded a pen (!!?) by Wayne.

 

 

After Lyn resumed the Chair, Merv handed out Xmas Carol posters to be distributed in the town and surroundings.

 

Lyn now called for the Presidents Report.

 

Charles spoke about the various engagements that the Club has early in the New Year – Bunnings BBQ, Two Bays BBQ and Australia Day. A quick check confirmed that there are volunteers for all these events. Charles then went on to discuss the Club meetings in the New Year. After a bit of back and forth it was decided and agreed that:

Wayne updated the Club on the re-sorting and fixing of the Shed, Trailor and Club Gear.

 

Next were the Directors Reports.

 

Chris spoke briefly about Margarets gradual improvement and then confirmed the rosters for the two January BBQs. Next, he summed up the November Market which started well but had to be abandoned as the weather got progressively worse. The Committee had decided to roll over the payments made by stallholders to the December Market. An information letter to this effect would be sent out to the stallholder community.

 

At this point Wayne proposed having a year-end social night instead of a meeting on next Wednesday (18^th). All agreed and numbers were taken for Teresita’s Restaurant.

 

Lotto was now drawn and won by Leonne (We couldn’t find a byelaw which prohibited this. Ed). Merv conducted a quick fire Fines session which covered the usual suspects (badges, lotto winner etc) and then dissolved into stories around the Market.

 

Greg gave an update on the Tiny Housed project. The Salvo’s are providing a site, which has been sorted after some initial problems.

 

Lyn now handed the Meeting back to Charles who reminded everyone that the night at Teresita’s will start at 6:00 p.m. He then thanked the Board and everyone for all their help and wished Merry Xmas to all.
