Happenings at last week’s Meeting
(As I was unable to attend this Meeting, the following has been supplied by Chris. My thanks. Ed.)
As only nine were at the committee meeting last Wednesday, we all sat around one table, and it was a general discussion, and I might add a very inclusive one.
Membership, Fundraising and Projects.
- Market
- Confirmed we would be using Try Booking.
- New signs, Rotary Membership, Sponsors Board, Market Location Board, Interest in a stallholder board at the entrance.
- New Rotary information leaflets
- Using the market as a monthly promotion of Peninsula Food & Wine
- Christmas Raffle
It had been suggested we resurrect the Christmas Raffle commencing ticket selling from early November to Australia Day. Small committee to be established to recommend selling opportunities, beneficiaries, promotion, prizes.
- Business Dinner
A plan was put forward to consider organizing a corporate Business Dinner, at the earliest, March / April 2026. Well known speaker(s), attendance around 150-200, cost approximately $150.00 - $200.00 per ticket, attendees from all over the Peninsula, on the night promotion of the Peninsula and Rotary. It was considered ambitious but exciting and should be pursued. Small committee to be set up immediately.
- Dromana Estate Display Boards
A suggestion has been put forward to establish boards at either end of the Dromana Industrial Estate (plus/or at each road off Collins), displaying the companies in the Estate. Companies would pay an annual fee for entry on the Boards. It was considered a good idea. Permission would probably be needed from VicRoads and the Shire before approaching companies.
- Dromana Information Centre.
Members were advised of our initial meeting with the Shire in 2018 about opportunities for improving meeting facilities in Dromana. Quietly a few members have been looking at the information Centre on Pt Nepean Road. Plans for the Centre have been received, and a rough rework of the interior has been drafted. Conditions now seem right for contact with the Shire to discuss the Clubs plans for that building. This will be pursued.
It was an excellent round table discussion.
Moniques’ GoFundMe Page.
Monique spoke to the Club a few weeks ago. For those who are interested, here is a link the story of Quinn’s Place including a link to a GoFundMe page that has been set up to further her good work with local kids.
Don’t Forget the New Web Site.
Go there as often as you can, it’s important.
