Happenings at last week’s Meeting
Charles started the Meeting by giving an update on the search for another venue. The Shire Offices are available but organising catering is proving to be a bit of an issue no matter where we end up. He is going to investigate the availability, and suitability, of the Dromana Life Saving Club. He will have further details over the next few weeks.
After discussing Charles’ predicament with the venue, the various Committees went to separate tables to discuss their areas of responsibility.
Promotion/Publicity
Greg noted that the Town Cryer is overflowing with entries and our message tends to get lost. Further social media “streams” to be investigated.
The Committee decided to institute a greater effort at cross promotion of the Club, and our events, at the various events we are involved with. Having a standard poster which points out that it’s the Club and not the Shire putting on events. This should always be displayed when we set up in public.
Membership
It was agreed at the Membership Committee discussion, that we would contact a local Rotaract Club, with the view to understanding how to get younger Rotary members, join the Rotary Club of Dromana. Rob Alexander will contact Frankston Rotary Club, who have a close relationship with the Frankston Rotaract Club, to obtain contact names & phone numbers. The plan is to then arrange a meeting for Joseph Sophia & Tony Viney to meet with Rotaractors, to understand how they plan & implement, successful new membership drives.
Based on our findings, we will develop a New Membership drive, to be implemented in the new year – Tony’s daughter Yvonne has kindly offered to assist in understanding the age demographic. A presentation by Rotaractors, to all our members, should also be considered at a later date.
Charles then thanked all for attendance, reminded everyone that the next Market is fast approaching, and closed the Meeting at 8:10.
