only by email: chrisbooth@bigpond, or phone on 0408 880 816, before the MIDDAY on the Wednesday preceding the meeting.

President's Message
member photo
Dear Rotary members and all friends from Rotary,

If you have a birthday or anniversary we hope you have a great day.

If you know of someone in the club who is not well, please let me know as we care for them.

Thankyou to all the club members who have been involved in any way to secure our new, and hopefully permanent, private room at the Sailing Club Safety Beach. I am very confident that this will work for us. A special thankyou must go to Chris and Tyrrell for securing this.

Hopefully you all have read the email from Chris regarding the move towards our first meeting there on 3/3/22. Please make a special effort to be there.

I am looking forward to the conference on 25/26/27 Feb. It's a pity if you're not there for the great fellow ship and the chance to learn a lot.

Your Pres. Harry, take care.

Happenings at last weeks’ meeting

A change of venue this week, with us meeting at the CFA in Dromana. The purpose of the change was to see what the CFA club rooms looked like and decide whether they would suit us as a permanent meetings venue.
Harry opened the meeting and passed it over to Chris who outlined the options available to the club for a viable meeting venue. We could stay at the Golf Club and self cater until they could arrange a permanent caterer; we could relocate to the CFA club rooms and arrange outside catering; or we could relocate to the Sailing Club in Safety Beach and use a separate function room being catered from the Sailing Club kitchen.
An, at times, lively discussion ensued. The Golf Club really didn’t have much of a chance, given the uncertainty around catering and the general problems with noise. The CFA club rooms were suitable as a CFA meeting/waiting place but were a bit noisy/dishevelled and had no liquor license. We had all been to the Sailing Club for an annual hand-over so were aware of the quality of the venue. The vote was nearly unanimous for the Sailing Club.

Whilst listing the pros and cons of the venues the conversation did veer off into discussions of how we will run the meetings in the future. These points will be raised again once we are settled in our new “home” and can concentrate on one set of issues at a time.

Taking a cue from Harrys’ message, it’s probably best if I reproduce Chris’ email on the subject.
Chris’ E-mail.

“Hi All,
This email is to confirm the decision taken by members at last night's meeting regarding a permanent venue for the Club.
 Three possible options were considered.
 1. Valley Golf Club - catering is not available and on-going self-catering was considered not an option.
 2. Dromana CFA - has the facilities although we would have to acknowledge sharing with the CFA. Outside catering will also have to be organised.
 3. Safety Beach Sailing Club - using the separate room to the main restaurant with full service facilities.
Following a lively discussion the members overwhelmingly voted for the Sailing Club and as a result the decision was made to advise District of our new venue and amend all other relevant communications.
The new venue will commence from Thursday 3rd March, 6-00pm for 6-30pm. Cost will be $30.00 ($28.00 for a 2 course meal and $2.00 for the room hire). A cover charge of $5.00 for those members not eating will also apply, the same system that used to operate at the Old Shire Offices.
General details: there is ample car parking facilities. Entrance to the room is opposite the lift on the top landing. Drinks available through the bar in the main room.
We are confident that this venue will provide members and the Club with the professional facilities and atmosphere required, encourage members to bring guests and generate new member opportunities.
The venue for the 24th February will be back at the Golf Club - more details later.

Many thanks,
Chris  “

Back to Business.

Rick has sent through some information regarding our donations:

“Recent Club Donation
Last month the $4002 to Gippsland Rotary Centenary House.
This partially funded by the Ride to conference and we will be getting a District Grant to partially reimburse us for this.
Rick”

And Lastly.

After fines and Lotto (which your Ed. Won !!!) the meeting was wound down with the resolution to finally implement the Club Strategic Plan.

One final week at the Golf Club will give us a chance to say goodbye to a venue which helped us out in times of need.

And we finished at 8:15.
