President's Message
member photo
Last Wednesday was a special occasion for me as your President for the year 2024/2025.

I thank you for the opportunity you have bestowed upon me to lead you through this coming year.

On Monday, I held the first board meeting, and was impressed with the statements and plans
presented by all the chairs of the Portfolios.

I am looking forward to working with all our members and if we all do our little bit, we will begin the rebirth of our
great club - THE ROTARY CLUB of DROMANA.

Happenings at last week’s Changeover Celebration

Merv Prossor was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and welcomed President Mike to the lectern.

President Mike welcomed all the Guests:

District Governor Linda Humphries, Mark Humphries, Assistant Governor Peter Rawlings, Jeremy Maxwell, Nat Sevior (Bendigo Bank), Fiona Somjee (Bendigo Bank), Kirsty McRae (Bendigo Bank), and all the Members partners, Carole Ross, Joy Long, Sue Viney, Elaine Taylor, Wanda Fitzgerald, Freda Donaldson, Tom Parks, Trudy Ziegerink, Mary Anderson and Honorary Members Rick and Carol Hayllar and Tyrell and Maggie McGeever.

The Rotary Toast was proposed, and Greg Fizgerald gave the Invocation. Next, Geoff Taylor proposed the toast to Rotary International which was responded to by Peter Rawlings with a speech which referenced the local and international work which has been supported by the Club over many years.

Now, President Mike made the Presentations (apologies for the quality of the pictures from here on, things moved rather quickly. Ed):

The Sandy Christie Memorial Award was presented to Charles Ross.

The President's Award went to Adrian Davies.

The David Jarman Community Award was presented to Joseph Sofia.

And a Paul Harris Award was presented to Jeremy Maxwell by Charles.

Next, Peter Rawlings was invited up to talk about the Rotary Foundation and, with the thanks of both Rotary International and the District, to present Centurian Certificates to Greg Fizgerald, Jospeh Sofia, Ross Whitehead and Charles Ross.

After many applause from the assemblage, the presentations were completed, and the main course was served.

After the meal was removed President Mike gave his final Presidents Report. He remarked on the changes which had occurred over the last year, including the changes to the frequency, and venues, of our Club Meetings. He thanked all Members for their contributions and highlighted some individuals for specific thanks.

Now came the time for DG Linda Humphries to thank Mike for his time as President, remove his chain of office and to present him with his past president’s pin.

After this concluded, Linda now inducted Charles as the Rotary Club of Dromana’s President for 24/25.

Charles spoke briefly about his hopes for the new year.

Presented Mike and Agnes with a token of his thanks.

And introduced his Board.

As part of his closing, Charles pointed out that the next Club Meeting will be at the Jetty Road Brewery and will be a Committees Meeting. This change was so that the new Committees can start early.

The formal part of the evening was completed, and tea and coffee were served at around 8:45.

(A pleasant evening and well done to all who sailed in her. Ed)

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.
