Happenings at last weeks’ meeting
This week's meeting was a little different with Rob “Zooming” in from the airport and Mark having to split himself over multiple roles. Geoff started the meeting by proposing the toast and then welcoming our Guest, and future member, Marion Trevellyan.
Due to a late withdrawal (sounds like a horse race. Ed) Mark took to his first role as this week’s Chair.
The first order of business was the proposed changes to the Club Constitution, which have been requested by “Head Office”. Mark ran through the changes which had already been sent to the Membership. He précised the changes and, as there were no questions from the meeting, he proposed that the changes be accepted. This was seconded by Bob and the changes were carried by a unanimous vote.
Reverting back to the normal agenda the apologies were read out. After that, Mark issued an official thanks to Charles for all his efforts in arranging and making the Parking Control at the Dromana Estate Easter Egg Hunt such a success. The meeting heartily concurred.
Now the Chair called for the Secretary’s Report and departed the lectern. Secretary Mark came to the lectern and gave his report:
- The next Board meeting is on Tuesday 11th;
- The Dromana Association has invited a Rotary representative to join them and explain our area of interest in regards to a future Chamber of Commerce. Mark, and others, will attend;
- Mark will be absent on the 4th and 11th May and a replacement will be required;
- The Clubs Anzac Day wreath has been organised;
- Plans for the Change-over Dinner are underway, and one of our guests may be the Mayor; and
- Mark will be going to a meeting on the Connecting Thru to Australia computers for the disadvantaged project.
Geoff said that Greg is back home and is progressing well. He even hopes to be able to attend our next meeting.
Mark called for Directors Reports.
Charles announced that a review meeting on the Easter Egg Hunt had been postponed but he hoped it will happen in the near future. He thanked everyone who volunteered for the weekend and, considering the number of hours, he felt the Club could congratulate itself on a job well done. Given the lousy weather, which meant that the whole event was effected with some events being cancelled, the Club managed to generate approximately $9,800. A major effort, and he hopes to iron out some issues at the upcoming meeting so as to prepare for next year.
Harry announced that a $50 note had been found and, if no one claimed it, it would be put in the donations.
There were no further Reports so Lotto was drawn and it was won by Lyn.
Sergeant Pete ran through a list of Fines, including one for littering for Charles after the wind blew away his notes at the Easter Egg Hunt. (Harsh, but fair? Ed.)
Due to absentees this week, there was no TMG so Chair Mark handed the meeting back to Geoff who thanked everyone for their input and attendance. The meeting ended at a very early 7:35.
