Reports
President Elect Tyrrell McGeever has invited DG Charlie Spiers and Janne, DGE Merv Williams and Christine and PDG Tim Moore and Jane to changeover night. They have all accepted and are looking forward to being involved.
Greg Fitzgerald announced that work has begun on the toilet block at Hillview Reserve. Also the Pump Track has taken shape thanks to hard work from Luke Christiano.
Peter Anderson has lodged all documents for our NYSF candidate and the next step is the District interviews, we wish him good luck.
Also Peter circulated a letter from a teacher at Dromana College seeking financial assistance with a program sending students to Cambodia. This program teaches students to manage travel arrangements, catering, transport and involves them in volunteer work while they are there.
Lotto
The winner this week was Murray Dart.
Bob Donaldson and Rob Alexander then did a short presentation on membership and encouraged discussion among members. Both Bob and Rob had attended a District Membership Forum so they put forward points raised on that day.
*Clubs are getting smaller with an ageing membership
*Clubs are growing in India and Asia which keeps world numbers static.
*People today are time poor with busy family life so are reluctant to be involved in Rotary.
*E-Clubs are being set up to make it easier to be a rotarian.
*Formalities at meetings being dropped or reduced.
*A survey concluded that visible community work/ uniforms and one on one contact helped with membership.
*All members need to be on the ‘membership committee’
* Sometimes small groups can approach prospective members.
* Each club needs good projects to attract new members.
*Members need to drive ideas and make decisions not just the board.
* Maybe target 50yr  to 60yr people in our community.
* Set up a satellite club of younger people with strict, short meetings/ maybe breakfast  between 7am and 8am.
A lively discussion was had with many inputs from members and much enthusiasm to grow membership.
