.
Member Merv spoke about the Salvation Army appeal we helped with and said it was a great result and said we would be happy to help next year.
The Bunnings BBQ went well, as we have never done it on a Friday before, was a great learning experience to see what we need in future, thanks to Mike and his team for there help in running it.
Merv Pressor Youth Director had a Meeting at Chris Booth’s house 25th June, in attendance was Chris Booth, Merv Pressor, Mark Long, Bob Donaldson, Peter Anderson and Lyn Lewis. The meeting was to talk about the budget for the incoming year, go over RYPEN, MUNA, YOUTH EXCHANGE, NYSF and School Donations, it was decided that Merv and his board will have certain areas for each member, spreading the load and making it easier for all.

Peter and Col went to the Rosebud/Rye changeover night at the Rosebud Country club to see Brian Allan get inducted as President.
Peter,Tony and David B are currently looking at a price on a BBQ trailer, Peter Found one for $3000 new, but needs a bigger BBq plate like a 6 burner not 4 burner, and Eski’s, otherwise looks OK, might need to take a look at it, Peter will contact Alyce at Bunnings for a price on Eski’s and a 6 burner and maybe we get Zen to make one if we supply material.

GUEST SPEAKER MIKE CULVER.
Mike who used to live in the USA and worked for NASA, said it was a great experience, he enjoyed the challenge and what it offered, he was an Analytical chemist, when he was offered the job he said the pay was 10 times his current wage, he said it took him less than 30 seconds to sign up. He spoke about an incident were a piece of foam had come of one of the space shuttles and hit one of the heat tiles, coursing it to damage the shuttle and explode on entry, he also spoke about the Apollo 13 project and how that was a miracle made up other Miracles, he said it had no electrics at one stage, it also only has 3 seconds of fuel left when it did land, how they had to put the Apollo 13 shuttle into a spin so it would have an even heat around it, otherwise certain sections would of got to hot.
On the Space shuttle Columbia, they underestimated the power of the rockets when it took off, they had to re calculate the fuel issue otherwise Mike said it would still be floating around in space somewhere.
He said when he came to Australia he went to a Collingwood Football game, he said every Quarter people would come back with 6 cups of beer, he said by the end of the game they had to carry there friend back to the car, he enjoyed the experience of the game.
Mike said the Moto of NASA was “FAILURE WAS NOT AN OPTION”
