Happenings at last week’s Meeting
This was our first Committee Meeting under the new format where a meeting is devoted to one Committee subject. The purpose for this is so that the whole Club can have input to discuss the Committees problems/direction/options.
This week the subject for discussion was Membership and the Meeting was chaired by Chris Booth.
Sergeant Pete called the Meeting to order, and President Peter conducted the Toast and called for the Invocation. He then handed over to Chris.
Chris explained the purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm issues around membership, especially how members were recruited into an association with Rotary.
Chris outlined the normal associations that apply to Rotary:
- Individual Memberships (standard. Ed.);
- Corporate Memberships;
- Friends of Rotary;
- Satellite Membership;
- Project Membership;
- Passport Membership; and
- Online Membership.
The resulting discussion was wide ranging. One of the points that all agreed on was that with more “hands” we could provide more “help”.
The means of association that were most applicable to our Club were those of Individual Membership, Friends of Rotary and Satellite Membership although we have not attempted the later in recent years.
Chris, having taken copious notes, thanks the Meeting for their input and then called for the Lotto draw, which was won by John.
Other points of notice:
- Members requiring this year’s badge who have not informed Wayne need to do so a.s.a.p.
- Directors are required to submit their budgets.
The Club also received a thankyou from the Youngs and Jess MacLeish for their certificate and invitation to our Changeover Dinner.
At the completion of a conversation about the prestige of Paul Harris Fellowships and a possible dinner, the Meeting at 8:00.
