Happenings at last week’s Meeting
This was the second of our re-vamped Committee Meetings where one committee has the undivided attention of the whole Club. It was the Community Service and Youth Committee’s turn with Greg as the Chair for the night.
After President Peter conducted the Toast and Invocation, it was over to Greg who started off with the Youth component:
- RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of ENrichment) is scheduled for the 18th – 20th September this year.
- Years 9 and 10 at Dromana Secondary can attend
- Samantha from 1st Dromana Sea Scouts, who helped out a Hillview recently, may be approached
- Primary School scholarships for 2 students have been set by the Board at $300; and
- Red Hill Consolidated and the Special Needs School will be contacted for further scholarship recipients.
Greg now pointed out that the Spinners need an organised maintenance crew and schedule. This was discussed, as was the placement of a refurbished spinner. (At this point someone came up with an idea, as usual, but his bluff was called and he was designated to follow it up. Ed)
The Market and Halloween management teams are established and the organisations are underway.
The Community Garden management is progressing and membership is increasing.
Management of this years Xmas Carols was discussed, and it was assumed that Merv and Wayne would take this on. (That comes from being on holiday Merv. Ed)

To finish off, Greg pointed out that the Arthers Seat Walking Track is still a possibility, but there is quite a bit of work to be done.
Greg now handed over to Chris for a brief announcement.
It may have skipped some memories, but the 31st of October is both Market Day and Halloween. The logistics of this requires some planning but the major problem is “staffing”. Essentially, we will have to plan out who, what and when our Members attend and search out any extra help we can find.
Before closing the Meeting, it was pointed out that the Shire is refurbishing the audio-visual system in the hall and we will have to move the meeting scheduled for the 16th of September to the 30th. (Luckily it is a 5 week month. Ed).
Peter thanked all attendees and closed the Meeting at 8:00.
