Happenings at last week’s Meeting
This week we had our Committees Meeting at the Shire Hall on a Thursday night.
Charles began the Meeting with a rundown of the venue options within Dromana. One of the limiting factors is catering, hence the shift of the night to Thursday and the packaging of the hot food in take-away containers.
It was decided that the food was good and a successful trial.
There was an extensive discussion on future venues, including the Pub, but it was decided that the next Committees Meeting would be held at the Sandy Christie room at the old shire offices, so as to canvas all possibilities.
Greg announced that the Luge has been approved which left everyone a little flat.
Chris gave a brief update on Elaine and her future options.
He also gave an update on the Market and generated discussion on the following:
- Conducting a silent auction of donated tools;
- Arranging collections specifically for a Sky Hydrant; and
- Bendigo Bank Grants Sponsorship is now open, for next month.
The Members now dispersed to their various Committees.
The Meeting was closed at 8:10

Recent Information
(Some of this was sent to the Bulletin early in the month and missed at the appropriate time. Ed)
“Hello to our vibrant Community Organisations,
Have you been to the Womin Djeka Balnarring Ngargee? It's a festival at Emu Plains in Balnarring, where the whole community can gather to share, begin conversations and walk with First Peoples. If you have been before, no doubt you will want to join us again this year, and if not, then this could be the year! Dan Sultan is the headline act and its entry by donation!
Our purpose in emailing is to request that you include some information about the festival in your group or organisation's newsletter or other communications.
This is a community run event and we rely on the help of lots of volunteers with support from all over the community.
Saturday 14th March 2026 will be the 9th festival for this very special family friendly event which includes music, dance, workshops, children's activities, schools displays, market area, first nations organisations, food trucks, caring for country organisations and so much more!
Please find attached some words and pictures to consider including in your newsletters or other communications.
If you would like some other material or formats that suit your purpose better - just let us know
Kindest regards
The Womin Djeka Balnarring Ngargee organising committee!”

“Hi Rotary Club of Dromana,
There’s one word that makes a difference at SPCS. One word that enables us to continue to provide programs and services for people who are doing it tough or living rough on the Southern Peninsula.
YOU
You are the reason we’ve been able to meet the increased demands for help in 2025.
You showed up in so many ways.
By volunteering, making financial donations, providing material aid, responding to our pantry call outs, donating vouchers for essentials, committing to monthly giving, organising or attending community events in support, and so much more.
You helped us when the Federal Government reduced our Emergency Relief funding In September last year. We knew the need was increasing. We knew even more help was required. We believed you could be the difference.
We asked and you heard our call.
We were blown away by the generosity and kindness of you and our community of supporters. You not only met the shortfall. You surpassed it enabling us to provide even more help at one of the crucial times of the year.
Your generosity – your humanity – shines bright for those doing it tough or living rough on the Southern Peninsula. We look forward to your continued support in 2026.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Maxwell, CEO”
Some Relaxation at Last
It’s nice to see that Merv gets some time away from his responsibilities at the Club. Here he is in Wangaratta ready for gold prospecting at Yackandandah the next day.
