Hi All

This weeks meeting was conducted in the usual manner, we even did the anthem this week, Pres Ross introduced our guests, Dis Gov Lynn Westland, Kieth and Jan Firth, Carol Hayllar and Frieda Donaldson,Maggie McGeever, Ann Buchanan,David Lee were also in attendance as it was a partners night. It was also good to see Ailsa back again with all here injuries.
The pre meeting board discussions with DG Lynn went well , and every board member apart from Rod Troutbeck as he was away on business, we all gave DG Lynn a decryption of what each board member was trying to achieve within the club.

Chairman Chris , asked for directors reports.

Director Rick announced that all members have payed there dues, and also had a slide show of our exchange student Emilie and my daughter Georgie on the snow with Carol and Rick and Ross, l thank them for looking after everyone, some pics bellow.

if there was directors reports l have missed, l apologize as l was very busy in the kitchen preparing Dinner and deserts,
Thanks to all those that assisted me and Patty on this busy night, without all your help we could not deliver meals of this quality ( sorry for any sloppy lasagna). Also l have discussed with Treasurer Rick that now that our club account is blossoming,  we can improve the quality of our Red Wine, l took a half empty bottle home and thought my cask wine was much better, so in the next couple of weeks please let me no what you think and we can adjust if needed, thanks Rick and Dan Murphy's(haha).

Membership Director Peter announced that the fund raiser for cancer council he and his wife Mary were running is finished and the total raised was just under $6000.00 , we both thank the club for there support, also Roger McMillan for allowing us to take up an offer of getting 2  weeks accommodation in his and Ginny's holiday house in Tassie, that really boosted the total, thanks guys.

Our guest speaker was DG Lynn, she gave us a great talk about what our club was achieving she found out through the board meeting, Lynn was very happy with the direction our club is going, she also spoke about how all Rotary clubs are trying to increase there membership.
She also spoke about Poleo and Nigeria, were there was no cases for almost 3 years until recently were 3 cases were recorded.
Lynn had a great fun night at our club and enjoyed the humour that our club provides,as well as getting the job of community done and the serious work we do.
Pres Ross thanked Lynn for her attendance as he did for all our guests

Another matter l am dealing with is the dishwasher in the hall, l have had another discussion with Councilor Antonella, and we are having a meeting with a shire representative on Monday at 12.00 to 1.00, l will be unable to attend due to work commitments and thank Ray BB and another from the hall committee for attending on my behalf, they will be discussing altering our current machine to a dishwashing liquid dispenser in the machine to make it wash our dishes, instead of just high temp rince aid, l will inform the club of the outcome after the meeting when Antonella contacts me afterwards.

On Monday the 12th myself, Ray and Elaine BB, Ross, Chris,John, Bob went to Hasting Rotary meeting to listen to Mr Spitteri go over the new laws regarding insurance and how it will affect our club and our projects and what we assist in, it was very informative s it told us what we can legally do and legally cannot do, everything seems to be ok except for the Australia day event.
He was saying unless it is called the Rotary club event completely it will not be covered, example is the art show, that must be now called the Dromana Rotary club art show, Halloween is ok because Rotary are in control and own this event, even though we donate money to and get assistance from other organisations such as CFA and Mens shed etc, doesn't matter because it is our event.
The paper work for the Australia day event as it is now will not get covered, because even if we do fill it out, because of the other organisations there would be to difficult for insurance to no who is responsible in case there was an accident.
If the Australia day committee cannot come up with an answer, an Ray did mention a way of getting an outcome, it will be interesting to see if there is an Australia day event as we have known in the past.

Just a few other very important points regarding exchange students etc.
1/ if the exchange student goes to a friends house, someone in the family must have a working with children certificate (WWC).
2/ If the student wishes to have a sleep over , the someone in the family must have a WWC and stay with the exchange student and also get permission from there councilor prior.
3/ it is also advised and highly recommended that a person not be alone with an exchange student, for protection of both parties, this is highly acknowledged by our new District Gov Lynn.
4/ In certain events you will now need both certificates.
It is advised that you read any information that concerns you from the club runner website, log in, go to section for forms and proceed to what you may need or , or need to read.
I have an e-mail detailing everything that was said on Monday night, if Secretary Bob does not forward it to you, please contact me and l will be happy to forward it to you, that goes to our members as well as anyone else receiving this Bulletin,  my e-mail is tptechniques66@bigpond.com

Our new sign at the entrance to Dromana had its grand oppening by our local mayor Graham Pittock.

Next weeks Dinner,  chicken parma, chips and salad, and 2 types of fruit pies ( apple and berry) with custard or ice cream.
As always either let Elaine or Pete no if you cannot attend. Please attend Hungry.

This weeks joke
A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand.
He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the old Abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.
The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives, in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old Abbot. So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him.
He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing.
"We missed the
R! We missed the R! We missed the bloody R!"
His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably.

The young monk asks the old Abbot, "What's wrong father?"
With a choking voice, the old Abbot replies: “The word was ....CELEB
RATE!"
