Hello Fellow Rotarians,

Last Wednesday’s meeting was held at the SBS Club. We did not have a speaker for the night, but we managed to fill the time with various topics.

We welcomed back Murry Dart, who has not been well enough to attend our meetings, and it was also great to see Joseph Sofia back from his extended holiday.

I will let our Ed. elaborate on the business discussed.

This Wednesday is our Social Night which will be at The Heritage Restaurant in Balnarring at 6.30pm, 3059 Frankston/ Flinders Rd Balnarring. Hope to see every one there.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

Once again, we were back at the Sailing Club for our Meeting.

Charles began the Meeting with the usual Toast and Invocation then handed over to the night’s Chair, Merv.

Merv read out the apologies and, because we had no Guest Speaker/s, called for the Presidents Report.

Charles restated the success of the venue, and catering, for the Committees Meeting last week. He reminded the Members that the Dromana pub was still and option because of the ease of catering and setting up. However, as a comparison, the next Committees Meeting will be in the Sady Christie Room at the Old Shire Offices.

In his role as Club Almoner, Bob now gave an update on:
  • Elaine is back home with future care arrangements being finalised;
  • Chris is back home after his key-hole surgery at the Bays. The prognosis is that the operation was a success;
  • Adrian was contacted and had some concern about communications in general and the Bulletin delivery in particular.
The Chair now called for the Secretary’s Report.

Wayne began by welcoming back Murray and Joseph. He then forewarned on the upcoming March birthdays and congratulated Harry on 35 years as a Rotarian.

Merv now gave the Treasurers Report which detailed:
  • Donating $1000 each to the Dromana Community House and the Sea Scouts for their help at Halloween; and
  • Pete and Mary Anderson will be sponsoring an event for the Jane Macgrath Foundation.
The Members now continued the discussion about the Old Shire Offices.

Harry now spoke on the new version of the Sky Hydrant that has just been produced.

It is being installed in Timor-Leste and other sites and costs about $6000 for the larger, 10,000 litre, unit. There is a smaller 5,000 litre unit which costs about $3000. He reminded us that pure water improves lives. It was suggested that the Club donates a unit and 3 countries were proposed – Cambodia, the Philippines or Bhutan. The Meeting voted for the Philippines. Harry told us that he is looking to display the new Sky Hydrant at our Merket.

Greg conducted the Fines session and then Rob gave a talk in the success of the spinners and where the money goes.

Charles thanked everyone for coming and the Meeting was closed at 7:55

A Request from Greg

“Members: Could you all register as members of our new Facebook page? I am trying to attract people to come on board to carry out work at Hillview. It will also put us in touch with potential members.
The page is (Friends of Hillview Reserve). I will explain more at the next meeting.”

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.

Not exactly "light-hearted" but I just found it again.
