President's Message

Hello Rotarians,

Last Thursday we met at the Sandy Christie Room of the Old Shire Office. There were 14 members present and I addressed them on two Topics.
  1. To decide on our future meeting place
  2. The Peninsula Hope Bag Project.

I asked each member to choose between the two venues, Dromana Community Hall and the Sandy Christie Room. 10 members chose the Sandy Christie Room. Reasons were varied, from nostalgia to more intimacy than the Hall. I pointed out a few issues, none that are insurmountable. I will take discuss those issues with the Shire and will report the outcomes.

The second topic was also discussed at length. Everyone was in favour of our Club taking on the Project, though with some provisos. I will inform the members on that after I contact Dr Bannister, Yvonne and Tony.

Next Wednesday our meeting will be at the SBS Club. Our speaker will be Lacey Brooks, Captain at the Dromana College.

I hope to see everyone there.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

This week’s Committees Meeting was held at the Sandy Christie Room at the Old Shire Offices.

One of the purposes for meeting at this venue was so that any discussion on future Club venues could be based on up-to-date facts and not just what new Members had heard or what old Member remembered.

After the meal, the Meeting became a series of discussions on two topics – The future venue for Club Meetings and the suitability of the Club taking on the Peninsular Hope Bags Project.

The discussions and voting around both topics were quite “lively” and gave Charles much food for thought and information collection. (Of course, your Ed had too much to contribute.)

In general, the outcomes pointed to the need for more follow-up information on both subjects with the Hope Bags Project receiving unanimous support.

(Not wishing to editorialise on either topic, for fear of pushing my own opinion too much, I’m leaving it until the next Meeting for Charles to present the facts to the whole Club, as this Meeting was missing quite a few Members. Ed.)

Charles thanked all attendees and the Meeting closed at 7:50.

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.
