Committee reports
Last week our committe meeting was held at Jetty Road Brewery, although the group was small, the discussion was lively!
Charles reported from his group that further discussion was had about the possibility of a Trash and Treasure Market. The group are still deciding on what day of the month that it might be had; the first Saturday of the month being somewhat problematic as, at times, that will be on the same weekend as the market. That discussion continues. Key revenue would not only be from stall holders but car parking is lucrative. A previous market held at the drive-in had up to 180 stalls. Rent will be $1000 per market.
Pauline and Wayne reported further information about the Mana Youth Project after both having met with Mentor Rick at different times. The project is certainly a worthwhile one but the young man is desperately short of funds and in no position himself to raise required funding. Rick has 21 young people currently enrolled in his youth programs; these run mostly on a Monday and a Tuesday evening after school. There has been a recent rent increase at the Seawinds Community Hub and he is unable to meet the rental commitment. With school holidays coming up, he has scheduled some holiday programs but needs to raise the funds urgently to run these. It was agreed that we could support him in paying the urgent rent for the next term and also to cover the extra insurance the Community Hub are now requiring. Rick is supplying the costs of these and we will cover these for now and then discuss how we might support him in the long term.
Since the meeting, Rick has invited interested Rotary members to pop down on a Tuesday evening in term time to witness the work he does; let Pauline know if you would like to visit. His website provides some information on what he does for those interested,

Rick has also started a 'Go Fund Me' if anyone would like to support that individually, find the
information here.
He has asked me to thank Rotarians wholeheartedly for our support thus far, it is much appreciated.
Geoff reported from his group and I must apologise that I couldn't hear all that well and I have little knowledge on the projects so was unable to fill gaps; please chat with Geoff if you would like more information. The discussion was around the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, RYLA, where 19-30 individuals were offered a 5 day intense course on mentoring. There would be a need to raise $3,000 to support someone in this. Discussion continues. Other discussion was around MUNA, the Model United Nations Assembly, which sounds fascinating. I believe this will be held at the Lyndhurst Secondary College.
Dear Members, my apologies for the tardiness of this Bulletin, I was away for the weekend and had a very busy week, I'll try not to let that happen again. Thankfully I couldn't sleep at 5am and remembered!
A note from Harry
Harry’s role in the Club is as our Almoner. He is the Clubs “social service” provider, and it is a position that requires that he is up to date on any “challenges” that have affected our Members.
Please keep him in the loop.
