Hello to All,

Last week we had our Committee meeting at the Old Shire Offices. I was away on some R&R Leave. We tried a new caterer and the feedback I received was all good. The quantity was excellent, the quality was as good as home cooking.

As I mentioned previously, the Dromana Community Hall will be our preferred venue and because our new caterer can deliver hot food our meetings will be held on a Wednesday. There is more to be done re storage.

Incidentally, all the crockery, cutlery and desert bowls are ours to keep. Compliments of our caterer.( Kerry and Loris).

I must also mention that Elaine Barnard Brown has been admitted to a retirement centre where she will be cared for day and night.

This week we are back at the SBS club. I hope to see you all there.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

The Members gradually arrived at the Old Shire Offices for our last meeting in the Sandy Christie Room.

Wayne acted as Chair for this Meeting and used the opportunity to make it a kind of forum meeting where the Members could discuss various subjects.

Firstly, it was pointed out that the new Caterers were able to deliver on a Wednesday, so we won’t have to switch our meeting nights depending on where we are meeting.

The following subjects were announced or discussed:
  • Forum Meetings may be introduced as a regular feature;
  • The 24th of June is to be our Changeover Dinner, at the Sailing Club, and invitations are going out;
  • There was a discussion on who to invite to the Changeover;
  • There were positive votes for the catering;
  • The frequency of Meetings was discussed, having found out that other Club are moving away from weekly meetings;
  • Committee Meeting Agendas and Reasons were discussed:
    • It was proposed that only one Committee be the subject of each meeting, so that all Members can contribute;
    • Essentially Committees should be the relevant Director and an Assistant. The rest of the Members would be called upon as necessary; and
    • Zoom Meetings could be an option.
  • A proposal was put forward that Members should be assumed to be coming to a Meeting, and pay accordingly, unless they opt out; and
  • A general discussion was held regarding the attendance at Meetings and the appropriate penalties for non-attendance.
The meal was “full and hearty” and made for a very convivial evening which finished around 8:00.
