Hello to All,

Last week we had, our meeting of committees at the JR Brewery. Unfortunately, I could not attend due to a family commitment. However, from all accounts it was another productive evening.

This week we will be meeting at the SB Sailing Club. I look forward to seeing you all there.

I would like to remind every one of the upcoming event of Australia Day 26th of January. Our Rotary Club will have a marque for the painting of wooden cutouts for the children. I will need approximately 12 volunteers to cater for them. They are various easy tasks for a period of 4 hours.

Please note that date in your calendar.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

Our Committees Night reasonably well as the Members are remembering to order as they arrive so that meals can be eaten before the actual Meeting starts. As Charles was not available (good luck to Carol from all of us. Ed) Wayne took charge and, approximately, on time the Meeting split into their various Committees and the Committee Chairs initiated discussions. (I’m not so sure it was as organised as that. Ed)

Towards the end of the Meeting the Committees were asked to report on their discussions and decisions, if any.

Publicity/Membership/Sponsorship/Fundraising Committee discussed:
  • The Current and future Club Web Pages, focusing on the complications and advantages;
  • The need for a skeleton of a Marketing Plan to be developed and attached to the Club Strategic Plan. This should encourage Membership and inform the Community what the Club is about and what we are doing;
  • Regarding the Market, the Shire information is incorrect and misleading. This needs to be corrected quickly; and
  • There are new stallholders applying to the Market, including Sam Groth, for community engagement, and the Shire, regarding the Dromana Development Plan.

Foundation/International discussed:
  • November is Foundation Month;
  • Foundations work with the Polio Plus project;
  • December will see a Foundation talk at a Club Meeting;
  • International spoke on the number of power tools coming in for DIK;
  • There will be a speaker in December;
  • There is no further movement on the financing of another Water hydrant; and
  • The project on wood fires for the third world seems to have petered out.

Youth/Community discussed:
  • The scholarship awards to various local schools.

After the various Committee Reports, Marion canvassed opinions on the recent Open Gardens. It was agreed that the weather was so bad that it coloured any meaningful review. However, when the weather held the response was promising. It was seen as a worthwhile Community Event but needed earlier planning and advertising. Following on from that point it was decided to establish a Project Committee to begin planning earlier and also report to the Board on those plans and costings.

Wayne thanked everyone for their attendance and then closed the Meeting at 8:15.

Just Some Extras.

  • Our final social night and "break up " will be at Zero 95 in Dromana on the 4th of December at 6.30. To RSVP call or message Joseph (0411 266 003) by 27th November so he can estimate numbers.

  • Don’t forget that Elaine and her team are still collecting pill blister packs.

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.
