DON'T FORGET THIS TUESDAY NIGHT 31ST OCT IS HALLOWEEN, COME ONE,COME ALL YOU'LL HAVE A BALL, RED HILL RESERVE, BOUNDARY RD (OPPOSITE THE SHOPS) Pres Rob spoke about visiting another club and seeing how they run there meeting, he also spoke about the art show screens and how they need fixing up. he also spoke to the principal of Dromana Secondary college and there wish list. Secretary Elaine spoke about the Potters and thanked them for there invitation, also donations for the trailer raffle, catherines of Dromana, Zen Trailers for the 20 hours to build the trailer, Elaine also replied to Consumer Affairs. Director Peter spoke about doing a working bee project, one of his good friends has had a stroke and is living in a nursing home most of the time, his son has approached me and asked if l new anyone that would do some work on the house, they would pay us $2,000.00 for the job. it consists of moving a lot of fire wood to the back of the property, moving things in his garage so he can get a trailer etc in it, and possibly cutting grass and doing the edges, and loading rubbish for the tip. most members put there hand up to help, if we get enough people to help should be able to do it quicker. the date to start is Sunday the 12th November, the property is in Heal st Dromana, behind the Dromana Primary School. Peter also mentioned the food for Halloween and how Chris was picking up all the meat and bread, l thank Chris for his help in collecting all the food. Peter also spoke about the flowers for Roger's wife Ginny, l delivered them and they were very appreciative and thanked the members. Director Chris spoke about RYLA and its at forest edge, and if we were interested to sponsor 2 students, we accepted and they are 2 Sudanese students. Treasurer Rick spoke about the spinners, we have collected over $7,000.00 so far. also mentioned the new credit card facility ,still a work in progress. Member Greg spoke about Halloween and its on next Tuesday, everything is under control, we need marquees and generators, the stage is coming from the shire around 4 o'clock, ca park and lighting is under control. he also mentioned sparklers for the kids, and if we feel they are safe enough, Peter's suggestion was to give them to the parents and let them decide weather the child is responsible enough to use them. starting time set up is Tuesday at 8.00 am, men's shed offered to help as well as others. we will need chairs and tables, trestles. Our guest speaker was Matt, he is an Out reach Officer, has a bachelor degree in sociology, And lives in Rosebud. Matt loves his job, he gets to see Dolphins most days, he works with seals including the one that made his home in Dromana, he also said there was a pod of 30 dolphins that live just of Mornington. He also mentioned hump back whales coming into our bay for a rest, southern ripe whale's also coming into the bay on there migration. they are found in our waters all year round. he spoke about how they recognise each dolphin , they take photos of there fine's, with that they can see were they have travelled to or from, Matt said dolphins from Tasmania don't normally come into Port Phillip Bay. Matt brought in a Dolphin skull, it is very fragile and passed it around the room, they get there measurements from deceased dolphins, he said it was hard to get measurements while there swimming around. He said they live all around the southern coast lines and are in our bay all year round. There about 120 of the Burandan dolphins in our bay. He said in Monkey Miar in Western Australia there about 3,000 Dolphins. He said the dolphins in our bay are in danger because of boats, jet ski's and plastic bags etc. Matt spoke about the different types of Dolphins , the different colours and nose shapes. Matt and his crew travel up and down the bay looking for the Dolphins, taking images of there dorsal fines, this is like there finger prints.
