DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

Bob Mark and I spent the morning on a District Assembly Zoom meeting to discuss many items and to vote on the next next District Budget. The District budget forms part of our Club costs and so the before taking it to board. l Rick, Bob, and Mark will zoom meet to put up some recommendations as to club fees for the 202021 year and present it to the Changeover Board Meeting for a decision to be made. A copy of this Budget will be accessible to whoever open this bulletin by clicking HERE

and is now archived on the ClubRunner Website,

One important point raised by a number of members at the meeting was the fact that our current condition of isolation has actually allowed some clubs to get some new younger members because they realise all of a sudden that we have embraced new technology and no longer regard Rotarians as stuffy old ***%%$. So please consider this when going after potential new members.

Last Meeting

Thanks to Pres Pete for suggesting the funny head gear for the meeting. It is amazing how it improved the appearance of you all.

Are we asleep at the wheel.

Just because we are isolated does not mean that we as a club should be inactive. We can be as active as we want to be!. But it does require some effort.

WE need your ideas NOW!!!!

So particularly those members who are not trying to get their business back up and running again, should be putting more imaginative effort into how we can can contribute to our fellow members' well being and to our community, some clubs are being very imaginative.

Just look at the RC Latitude 38 Bulletin #5 16 May 2020 of copy of which I sent you recently.

We are tending to feel sorry for ourselves and stare at out navels. And my navel is pretty boring to stare at after I have removed the fluff out of it.

There is a lot happening in RI and The District to support the Clubs during this difficulty time.

But it does require we as members to get something happening.

Click on this link to see RI involvement.

And even more in the RI website by login in. In case you have not done that before just create a login to gain full access to the site. And don't say you can't you are a Rotarian just try!

And of course our own District Website is full of support also; your ClubRunner login gives you access to the site. but otherwise click HERE

I know this is a learning exercise. But hopefully none of you are too old to learn. And most of you have more time on your hands than you normally have. And do you know we have been using this means of distributing our Bulletin since May 2015.

Worried About Zoom

I have heard that some people are frightened of using Zoom yet they blindly post in Facebook and search on Google, and other social media sites without even realising that they are exposing themselves to all sorts of exploitation if they have not bothered to set up the privacy setting to suit themselves.

Zoom has built so many safeguards into their system now that it is safer than most places on the Web

We are not likely to get out of this pandemic in any timer soon, according to the experts (with winter coming on), and anyway we must embrace modern Communication technology or will be be out the the cold. So please embrace it.

As announced on our Website and on this bulletin, we have a guest speaker of great interest next meeting IE on the 21st of May. You will be sent a link inviting you to attend on Thursday at 7.00

Stay we hope to see you all this coming Thursday
