President's Message
member photo
President Michael & Agnes are overseas currently having a great time in the European sunshine whilst we humble members cope with the vagaries of a Victorian spring. They will be dong this for another 5 weeks; It hardly seems fair.

In Mikes absence Senior Vice-President Rob will take over & if he is absent PP Ross will take up the mantle.

Our last meeting was well attended & members listened with interest whilst Rosebud-Rye Rotarian Sandra Fiedldy gave a very interesting presentation on the Kosish garden project in Nepal. This project helps local residents reduce their food costs & has therapeutic benefits for
them too.

Don't forget that next weeks meeting (11 October) will be a social event only at the Peninsula Club starting at 6.30pm. Members are to advise Mark if they are not attending & if they are bringing a partner by 10am on Wednesday 11 Ocotber.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

Agnes got her first gig as chair-person at the last meeting & did a very good job

Secretary Mark gave the following updates.
  • A joint meeting with Rosebud-Rye will occur on 6 December at their rooms
  • There has still been no response from the Shire about the Safety Beach Picnic table
  • There has still been no response from Sam Groth about the State Government's 500 unused houses
  • Next meeting is a social event only at the Peninsula Club, Gibson street, starting at 6.30pm
  • A board meeting was held on Tuesday 3 October by Zoom & the minutes will be available on ClubRunner next week
  • The AGM will be held on 22 November at the Safety Beach Sailing Club. An agenda will be emailed to members over the coming weeks.
  • The Community Garden BBQ lunch will be held at the garden on 15 October between 11 & 2
  • A visit to the Sea Scouts is being arranged with a date (still) TBA
  • A joint meeting with Dromana Lions is being planned
  • We are required to vote for Regional Council members soon & as he will be away President Mike has delegated the Secretary to do this> Members with strong feeling on how we are to vote should contact Mark
Treasurer Bernard gave a brief financial report.

Director Greg spoke about the Hillview parking project on 14 & 15 October & the need to build a bonfire for Halloween. Volunteers names were recorded

Harry asked us to consider a recycling centre for cans & bottles. The church shed could be used for these purposes.

Chris advised the meeting that we had been awarded a BBQ by Bunnings (Rosebud) on Sunday 21 January.

Lotto was won by Murray (again).

Members should forward an apology if they are not attending a meeting.  Honorary members, Past members and Friends of Rotary who wish to attend any meeting are asked to notify the Treasurer of their wish before 12 noon on the day of the meeting. Phone or text 0409 943 854 or email dobsonb@bigpond.com
