Hi all

We are sort of getting used to the zoom meetings . It is encouraging to see that all but about three members are taking advantage of this technology to “meet”

And until, restrictions are lifted we will have to continue this way.

There is a possibility that we can met in our hall later than usual after having dinner at home

We will explore this possibility and report bank to you for you opinion.

Annuals Fees

Treasurer Mark will be emailing you your invoice soon. With the power of the MYOB accounting system and the internet you will be able to pay it while sitting comfortably in front of your computer your pad or your phone. For those of you that are not familiar with the process I will show you how easy it is by paying mine at next Thursdays Zoom meeting.

We have to plan for the DG “visit” in the near future a date to be decided.

It will probably be by Zoom unless the unexpected happens.

I trust at you all received the annual report. I hope you have read it because the directors put a lot of effort into preparing it; and don't forget it is safely stored on our Website for all to see.

It is often said that “Charity begins at home”, this has more meaning at the moment when we are a rather restricted in our movements.

If any members need a bit of help shifting stuff or other household chores remember that within our membership there is a great collection of physical and mental skills available so please don't hesitate to ask if you need something moved or repaired and you think a member might be able to help.

Saturday night carol's initiative was kicked off successfully see her report below club.

District Governor Mark Humphries

Hello Everyone,

Here we are at the start of a new Rotary year. A year that will see change. Past District Governor Adrian asked us all to Break the Changes, we did. Now I am asking you to Change. Our clubs need to change, we need to look at what we are doing and how we engage with our communities and each other. We need to be bold, International President Holger Knaak has asked you to challenge your thinking, how can you make you clubs more inviting, how can you better reflect your community needs and wants, how can you actively involve younger people in meaningful ways? Stop doing and stop saying, this is how we have always done it or we tried that once and it didn’t work. Times have changed, we need to change.

To help clubs adapt to new times and ways of doing things we have put together a team of people who want to help, a group of people with idea that they want to share with you. You are not alone, do not try an reinvent the wheel all the time, work with each, learn as a team, engage with other clubs in your cluster, be involved with projects outside our District, become a project driven club.

Your new team to help invigorate all areas of your Rotary club are ready to help, they wont tell you what to do. They will help you, lead you, give you ideas and importantly be involved with the process all along the way. Please make use of the team,

Last week’s meeting

Club congratulated and welcomed Rick as President.

Rick outlined the format of zoom meetings with Clubrunner being an important communication media.

Bob indicated that he is aware of a pet therapist who could be a guest speaker. He recommended that Directors use podcasts and the like from the District to assist with their tasks

Terry , Harry and Bob had a meeting with the Dromana Community House. Paint from Bunnings has been obtained to paint the fence.

Adrian,  considered a need to integrate speaker,  members and “pride of workmanship”, as he believes that this would encourage new memberships.  He would like to expand this over the coming weeks.

Andrew asked a question about the management of the project to construct a path around the peninsula.  The Rotary cluster is in discussions with the Mornington Shire.

Carol spoke about her column in the Bulletin.  Members partners will be asked to write a biography of the family to include in the bulletin.  Over one weekend, a host is to able to cook a meal for 5 people, guests to pay $25.00 and bring the refreshments. We look forward to Carol’s column and her little bird.

Livia is apprehensive about travelling home to Brazil and the consequences of the virus and care of her grandparents. We understand from Brenton that she came with 2 bags and going with home with 5!  We wish her best wishes and safe travels.

Views from the meeting.

 and finally

In the meanwhile, some members seem to be having too much fun!

Well done Merv!

Dear Friends Of Rotary Dromana, our small committee helped to shape our Dinner Parties last night, and surprised me to state that they insisted on paying the $25 guest attendance fee. So we have $125 to bank. Our meal was simple, cheese and biscuits, lemon chicken, boiled potatoes andbeans, a cherry cheesecake with 4 ingredients. It was such great fun,I truly have not laughed so much in weeks. People even exchanged little secrets. Similarities and differences make for great conversation and bring us closer together. On the weekend of 22 August we hope to have between 7 and 10 parties taking place. Remember it can be as simple as a barbeque for lunch, or a group at the Pub. We would like to hear from people happy to host apart then we can organise your guests, who can tell you of their requirements for a meal, and you can indicate your plan.Carol

And from Freda Donaldson:

Bob and I have two daughters, Emma and Sophie and  5 grandchildren – 12-23. We did the weekend and school holidays thing whilst the girls were still at school, and grew banksias and proteas for the cut flower market, along with cattle and our horses. For the past 10 years we have downsized to Dromana where we are involved with Riding for the Disabled, grandchildren and generally enjoying life on the Peninsula.

I nominate Wanda Fitzgerald for her biography.
