This week Greg was attending via Zoom. The meeting was missing some of the usual accoutrements so it was conducted without the control of “The Gong” which meant that the Sergeants strong voice came in handy.

 

 

After the Toast and Invocation Greg noted that the final Board meeting for this year had been held with both the old and the new. Community Aid was high on the agenda, as was the creation of Tyrrell as an Honorary Member.

 

The meeting was pleased to have Mike Anderson returning to the fold and Greg now handed over to Ailsa as Chair. The first step on the agenda was to call for the Secretary’s Report. (which required Ailsa to speak up, until a microphone was found. Ed)

Due to the afore mentioned lack of accoutrements Bernard announced that the Foundation and Fines boxes are being replaced by plastic bags this week.

 

 

The Chair now asked for Directors Reports.

 

Mick announced that his team is all but sorted out. He expects his year to concentrate on ways to increase our membership. Also, he will not be allocating Members to specific Committees as he will expect his Directors to second those Members they feel have the requisite skills for a particular subject/task. These secondments will be dynamic to suit the situation.

 

No other Directors had reports so Members were called on.

 

Chris had a headcount of volunteers for the next Market. He also announced that the June/July/August markets will have reduced site fees so as to assist the stallholders. A group has begun discussions with local business owners about the December Twilight Market. In addition, because of the dates, the Twilight Market and the Xmas Carols will be separate events.

 

  

Merv now unleashed his most creative ideas during the Fines session:

 

Ross was now called upon to give a TMG. His subject was, his new paddock which he is using to agist some of his cattle. The land is quite rich after years of having effluent pumped across it and the top soil is good after having been left fallow for so long. The owner sees a multi-purpose future for the land including such things as vineyards.

 

On a separate subject Ross had a shed “ventilated” recently, about 1:00 am, when a pine tree took out the skylight and wall. Essentially the shed was being held up by it’s contents. Insurance is still working on the issue and the shed is “propagating”.

 

There was no Lotto this week because of the “lost stuff”. (or could it be a ruse to stop my run of wins? Ed.)

 

 

It had been an unusually short meeting but Geoff thanked all attendees and closed the meeting at 7:35.

 

A recent e-mail sent out these 2 notices about our market, one for the next market on 24 June & the other giving the dates of the market for July to December (December though may change).

 

This is a call out to all members of the Dromana Rotary family, active members, honorary members, past members & friends. Winter is a tough time for markets in a tough economic environment & we need your help to publicise our markets by telling all of your friends & acquaintances about it & passing on this message to all of your email contacts. Please do whatever you can to publicise the markets so that we can generate more funds to help our community.

 

All of the traders are feeling the pinch at the moment.
