What a fantastic night, Peter will be a great President for our club, he is young, enthusiastic and very good looking,

He has great ideas to put forward to the new board.

He has a sence of humour.

Great social skills.

written by your new President Peter as Rob Didn't send anthing and l thought I'd use the oppertunity, enjoy the next 12 months, it will be a great Rotary year.

GOOD EVENING ROTARIANS AND FRIENDS

A special thanks to Charlie Spears, Brian Allan,Vivian  and Jim  Armstrong, Mark and Linda Humphrey's, Mike and Shaun Donaghue.

And a special thanks to all members partner's, past Rotarians and guests, l really appreciate your supporting my induction and hope to see you all at our social events.

Thank you to Freda Donaldson for attending after her injury, it meant a lot to Peter and Mary having Freda their for his induction.

ALSO, MORE NEWS, Mark Long has decided to stay at our club, Joy said he had to, great news, Thanks Joy.xx

It was a great changeover event held at the Dromana Hotel, there was about 57 guests for the evening.

M.C. for the evening was Merv Prossor.

Rotary Toast was done by David Jarmen.

Invocation was done By Bob Donaldson.

Fine session done by Murray Dart and Col Byatt.

Paul Harris Fellow were awarded to Kevin Harrup and  Ann Buchanan.

David Buchanan was awarded the Paul Harris Fellows Ruby.

great worthy recipients of this award.

Presidents award went to Tony Vinney for his work on the Market as well as other Rotary work.

Sandy Christy award went to John Barnes.

We were seated around 6.50 with antipasto on our tables, followed by either a pork or chicken main meal, vegitarian and celiac meals provided, then went on with Rotary formalities, followed by President Rob's report, very passionate about Sky Hydrants, which new President Peter wants to continue on with, involving his cluster group..

Then Charlie Spear's Past District Gov, filling in for Janne who had to attend a funeral in South Australia, inducted Peter Anderson As President for the next Rotary year.

After desert , either sticky date pudding or Tiramasu, President Peter gave his speech, BELLOW.

At the end of the evening, Peter found that there were guests or past members who showed interest in either re-joining or putting there name's down for the Satelite group when we get it up and running, great result for  Dromana Rotary and Harry our Membership Director.

A note of Thanks FROM TONY VINEY
I was so shocked that I received the Sandy Christie President’s Award at the Change Over Dinner for the work being done on the Dromana Community Market and I totally forgot to thank the Club members that have been assisting in the application process.  It continues to be team effort to establish the market and pleased to have such strong support from all club members as establish the Dromana Community Market.

A special thank you goes to the Market Steering Committee team in Peter Anderson, Michael Anderson, Michael Smith and Chris Booth for their support and commitment while Rod Troutbeck deserves a special mention.  It would not have been possible  for the club to develop a Traffic Impact Study on the area around the market site without his professional assistance.  I am also grateful for the direct support that Bob Donaldson and Rick Hayllar continue to provide as the club develops the upcoming market.

The Market Application Process
Note:  I have been informed that it is possible to complete the application by the end of September 2018.

A Brief Overview

To Date
  • Background research and documentation for planning application completed.
  • Content development continuing on the development of materials to be included in a dedicated Dromana Community Market website, face book ad other social media outlets.
  • Ongoing review and finalisation of Market Policy and Procedures and Stallholder Term and Conditions.
  • Market operational planning continuing.
  • Communications with Council on the application ongoing.
Application
  • Planning application submitted to Council.
  • Received “Consent for the Planning Permit Application” from Council as the land manager of the Park for the State Government.
  • Submitted a Traffic Impact Study and application variations to Council as requested.
  • Council is reviewing the application by distributing the application to the appropriate Council Departments for comment.
  • Advice had been provided that he Council will now "Advertise" the application (I believe to seek and asses potential objections). The club will receive a bill for the cost.
  • Awaiting any further requests for input from Council

Post Council Review
An understanding of the process
  • Council will approve (or reject) the application.
  • Once approved the Council has to write to the Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning (DEWLP) for the State Minister for that Department to sign off on the use of the Park for a Community Market.
  • DEWLP establishes an agreement (lease, terms and conditions etc???) that the Club must sign.

                                     Peter Anderson's --  PRESIDENTS SPEECH

GOOD EVENING EVERYONE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENDANCE .
FIRSTLY,  I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MY LOVELY WIFE MARY AND MY FAMILY  FOR THEIR SUPPORT, NOT ONLY THIS COMING YEAR, BUT PREVIOUS YEARS THAT I HAVE COMMITTED TO ROTARY DUTIES.  APOLOGIES FROM MY DAUGHTER GEORGIE AND HER PARTNER MATT, AS THEY ARE IN EUROPE, HAVING A GOOD TIME. AND WATCHING ON MESANGER LIVE VIDEO, THANK YOU TO MY DAUGHTER SAMANTHA AND HER PARTNER JOHN FOR SHARING THIS OCCASION WITH US.
SECONDLY, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE DROMANA ROTARY CLUB MEMBERS FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE PRESIDENT FOR THEIR CLUB.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK MERV PROSSER FOR BEING MY M.C FOR THE EVENING.
AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO THE DROMANA HOTEL FOR THEIR SUPPORT IN THIS CHANGEOVER EVENT, AS WELL AS THEIR SUPPORT WITH OUR FUNDRAISING EVENTS.

MY VISION AND GOALS FOR ROTARY THIS YEAR:
  1. MY ROLE AS PRESIDENT, WILL BE A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE.  I WILL BE WORKING WITH MY CLUSTER GROUP AND ATTENDING TRAINING SESSIONS AND BROADENING MY KNOWLEDGE AS A ROTARIAN.

  1. I WILL BE ASSISTING TONY VINEY IN CREATING A COMMUNITTEE MARKET . THIS WILL BE A MAJOR INCOME PRODUCING EVENT THAT WILL BRING LONG TERM SUCCESS TO OUR CLUB, ALSO  PUBLIC AWARNESS OF ROTARY , AND I WOULD LIKE ALL MEMBERS TO HELP AND ASSIST TONY, AND PERSONALLY LIKE TO THANK HIM FOR HIS ENDURANCE IN THIS PROJECT, AND ALSO THANK HIS STEARING COMMITTEE FOR THERE ASSISTANCE.

  1. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO GET AT LEAST 2 SKYHYDRANTS THROUGH OUR CLUSTER GROUP, AS A GROUP WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SPREAD THE LOAD.

  1. A CAR RAFFLE WILL BE ORGANIZED THIS YEAR   ,( TO REPLACE THE TRAILER RAFFLE ) , HOPEFULLY BEING PLACED IN THE RITCHIES COMPLEX, IF WE DON’T GET APPROVAL TO PUT THE CAR INSIDE, WE WILL PUT UP A BIG SIGN  TO PROMOTE THE CAR AND ROTARY,  AND SELL TICKETS OUTSIDE AS USUAL. WE ARE HOPING IF WE SELL ALL TICKETS AS THIS WILL LEAD TO A BIG PROFIT.
5/  ANOTHER PROJECT I WILL WORKING ON IS TRYING TO SET UP A SATELITE CLUB, A Satellite Club is an opportunity for individuals to become a Rotarian but for a variety of reasons find it difficult to join a ‘traditional’ Club.

Satellite members are full members of the sponsoring Rotary Club but may be of a different demographic or focus, AND MAY BE ABLE TO JOIN AT A DISCOUNTED RATE, IF THEIR PARTNER IS A FULL MEMBER, ITS ALSO TAX A DEDUCTION.

The Rotary Club of Dromana will be holding a free information meeting SOME TIME IN AUGUST WITH  Mark Humphries (a Satellite Club member) HE  will give a short presentation and answer ANY questions.

I am also happy to announce that my wife Mary  will be our first satellite member, once we have set it up.
BREAKING NEWS, AS OF FRIDAY, I HAVE 4 PEOPLE VERY INTERESTED IN JOINING THE SATELITE CLUB, AND WE EXPECT MORE INTEREST OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS, GREAT..

If you are interested in joining Rotary AS A MEMBER OR SATELITE MEMBER, please contact Peter or Harry .

  1. I WOULD LIKE ALL MEMBERS TO HELP TOWARDS FINDING GUEST SPEAKERS AND POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS TO JOIN OUR CLUB, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE  DIRECTORS IN THESE AREA’S, I BELIEVE AS ROTARIANS IF EACH MEMBER SPOKE TO AT LEAST 10 PEOPLE OVER A YEAR, LESS THAN 1 PERSON A MONTH WE COULD POSSIBLY INCREASE OUR MEMBERSHIP, AND HELP HARRY, AS HE IS NEW TO THE AREA.

  1. THERE WILL BE ANOTHER FUNDRAISING DINNER EVENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH MY WIFE AND DROMANA ROTARY, THIS WILL BE A BIG EVENT PLANNED FOR NEXT YEAR.

  1. I WOULD ALSO LIKE OUR CLUB TO DO JOINT MEETINGS AND NETWORK WITH OTHER ROTARY CLUBS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, WHEN A LOT OF MEMBERS ARE AWAY .

  1. MY GOAL IS TO CREATE 3  VOCATIONAL VISITS FOR THE YEAR, ONE BEING A VISIT TO THE ROTARY WAREHOUSE IN MELBOURNE.

  1.  I INVITE ALL MEMBERS AND THEIR PARTNERS TO JOIN OUR YEAR OF SOCIAL ACTIVITIES THAT WILL BE PLANNED THIS COMING YEAR, SOCIAL DINNERS, CINEMA NIGHTS, ETC,  WERE EVERYONE CAN MINGLE AND HAVE FUN AND GET TO NO EACH OTHER.

  1.   I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERY ROTARIAN AND THEIR PARTNER’S AS NOTHING IS ACHIEVED BY ONE PERSON.  IT TAKES A TEAM OF DEDICATED PEOPLE TO PRODUCE OUTCOMES THAT BENEFIT MANY.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND TOGETHER LET’S CONTINUE TO GROW. I HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE EVENING.

NOW A BRIEF ABOUT THE BOARD
WITH THE BOARD , EACH COMMITTEE WILL BE GIVEN ACHIEVABLE AND REALISTIC GOALS, THAT WILL BENEFIT THE CLUB.
EACH COMMITTEE HAS SUB COMMITTEE’S WITH HEAD CHAIRS TO REPORT BACK TO THEIR DIRECTOR, SPREADING THE LOAD AND ALSO GIVING EACH MEMBER THE CHANCE TO FOLLOW SOMETHING THEY MIGHT BE PASSIONATE ABOUT, AND THEN PRESENT BACK TO THE BOARD.
I THANK CHRIS BOOTH FOR HIS TIME AND EFFORT IN PRODUCING THE DETAILED BUT EASY TO UNDERSTAND SPREAD SHEET FOR ALL MEMBERS TO USE.  EACH MEMBER WILL GET A COPY EMAILED TO THEM.
I ALSO THANK RICK HAYLLAR FOR DOING THE BOOKLETS FOR TONIGHT, ELAINE FOR GETTING THE FLOWERS ON THE TABLES AND MARY FOR DOING ALL THE SEATING AND ARANGEING TONIGHTS EVENT.
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK PAST PRES ROB AND HIS BOARD FOR THERE CONTINUOUS WORK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THEIR GOALS AND IDEAS WILL BE CONTINUED WITH THE NEW BOARD.
