Good evening Rotarians and Friends Guest for the night were introduced by Pres Ross ,Emily Finsted our exchange student Mary Anderson , Ann Buchanan, Vair Gobbe and Noel Elliott from Salvation Army Director Bob spoke about NYSF , and how it going to be done in Canberra as well as Brisbane, we are looking for outbound students , they need to be interviewed at least 2 months prior. Member Frank Martin presented Neil Elliott with a cheque for $2,000.00, this was wages while he was absent from council duties , a donation to cover his absence as he missed 3 council meetings as part of regulations. Some of our members did the red shield appeal rattling the cans at McCrae shopping centre, Peter Anderson and David Buchanan did 2 days, Terry Clarke-Burrows an Tyrrell McGeever, Greg Fitzgerald, Ann Buchanan and Lyn Lewis and Bob Donaldson. Our club raised $760.00, and the total for the Peninsula was around $32,000.00 Director Rob spoke about members doing the minutes at each meeting, freeing up Peter to do other duties within the club, a roster was handed around to members to do a month at a time. Director Rod spoke about international, and sky juice and how it was going. Director Peter's wife spoke about the fundraiser witch raised $27,000.00 and how Mary had an email from Peninsula Health, and how they were able to purchase a Cardiac Machine as well as an X-ray trolley, these 2 items will have a plaque attached to them to acknowledge were the funds have come from, theyare also coming into the salon to do an article about Mary and Peter to be published in there Peninsula Health Magazine in the next few days. Geoff spoke about doing a BBQ for the community, and will be constructed at Andrew Duncans house in his shed. Director Tyrrell spoke about a palative care unit it at Rosebud, and how Terry from our club said they need chairs for the family members to be comfortable while they are there, Mike Smith said he had 2 recliners that he would be happy to donate to them, very nice gesture. Member Tony spoke about the Market he is trying to get started and is setting up a steering committee. Our guest speaker for the night was Emilie our exchange student. Emily spoke about her journey and experience she has had while over here, she has made good friends, been to loverly places, met different people, been on the Melbourne star etc. She has met a lot of exchange student from Europe , were she said she will keep in contact as they are a lot closer over there to get to, She has enjoyed all her host families, even a road trip with GRANNY (Lyn Lewis). Emily said she will keep in touch with all her host families, and l think every one, from Dromana Rotary as well as Rye/Rosebud could say having Emily in our clubs has been a wonderful experience, she has been a pleasure to have with us, a great personality and her behavior Is a credit to her family, we will all miss her very much, we all wish her well and a safe return home.
