GUEST SPEAKERS

 

Tonight we had Mike Smith and Michael Anderson talking about their experiences in Vietnam, they both showed slides of there base camp, choppers flying over, the land with helicopter and plane landing areas, they spoke about how they copped with whatever they were told to do, how dangerous and how the training they did at Pucka would of saved there lives, How they were involved with the Americans and how many casualties there were, Australia suffered just over 500 casualties, were America suffered over 35,000, they also spoke about how they were treated when they arrived back on Australian soil, and also the lack of support for any Mental health issues, Veterans are still suffering and getting no attention or very little, Both Mike and Michael did over 9 month service, mike applied to stay in the service while Michael stayed longer than expected and doing extra time with the SAS were he did not enjoy it and said it saw the worst time of his life, he did extra time because they lost his papers, after that he was returned back to Australia.
