                                                 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Hi Everyone,
Thank you to all those who attended David Jarman’s funeral, most of our members attended and there was a very large turnout to show there respect for a wonderful man that David was. It was a wonderful funeral with speeches from the family and one of David’s dearest friends, after the funeral there was a guard of honour that went most of the way down King street.
Thursday nights meeting was a social night to honour David Jarman, our last foundation member and his lovely wife Joy Jarman as our guest, it was for all members to pay there respect and have a few words about David if they chose to, Pres Peter opened the evening by greeting Joy and all the guests and then with a poem he had written for the night (BELLOW) , the gong was set up on the podium for members to gong when they felt the need to talk to the members and guests, Pres Peter had Davids last recording, it was when he spoke the early days of Dromana Rotary, it was great to see a lot of members took the opportunity to go up and say a few words about the times they had with David, it was even more delightful to see Joy go up and say a few words, it would have been very hard for Joy and we all appreciated the time she took to be with us all.
Even though there was a lot of members away due to health and personal reasons, it was a good social night, it was a finger food event so everyone could mingle and talk to each other, and comfort Joy.
There will be a board meeting AFTER next weeks meeting so we have time to go over the directors requests and commitments and get everything up to date. It will start at 5.10pm and go till 6.20, then conclude after the meeting to finalize whatever is left, this was a number of members decision so we don’t go late into the night.
PLEASE REMEMBER------Thursday the 18th April is another social night at the Pig and Whistle in Main Ridge, is a partners night, because we need to vacate the hall for the potters on this night. PLEASE make your own reservations with the Pig and Whistle and state you are with the Dromana Rotary Group, that way we will be all seated near each other. Thank you.

We are all in this together—and together, we will Be the Inspiration. (A quote from Barry Rassin ).

                                        BE THE INSPIRATION.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK,TAKE CARE, PRES PETER

PRES PETE'S POEM FOR DAVID

OUR FOUNDATION MEMBER HAS PASSED
HE WAS THE VERY LAST.
HE CAME TO OUR HALL
AND HE GAVE HIS ALL,
HE KNEW OUR CLUB WELL
AND HAD MANY STORIES TO TELL,
HE HAS BEEN A COMMITTEE MEMBER,
AS YOU ALL MAY REMEMBER,
HE HAS BEEN A MAYOR
AND WOULD OF GOT A STARE,
AN OAM, HE DID RECEIVE
FOR THERE WERE MANY THINGS HE DID BELIEVE,
HE WAS A PROUD AND HAPPY CHAPPY
EVEN TILL THE END WHEN HE FELT A BIT CRAPPY,
HE HAS TRAVELED THE WOULD AND SEEN A LOT
HIS PICTURE AT CHURCH, HE LOOKED LIKE A SCOT,
I FIRST MET DAVID AS A CLIENT, WHEN HE CAME IN FOR A CUT
ALWAYS RUNNING LATE AND WITH AN ALMIGHTY STRUT,
HE WAS ALWAYS RUNNING AROUND, AND ON THE GO
BEING SO TALL AND SKINNY COULD FALL AT THE SLIGHTEST BLOW,
HE WAS A LOVERLY MAN, WICH WE WOULD ALL AGREE
NOW IN HEAVEN, WERE HE CAN BE LET FREE,
JOY HIS WIFE OF 49 YEARS, WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEART
AND IF SHE NEEDS US, WILL NOT BE FAR APPART,
WE LET DAVID NOW REST
AS HE GAVE HIS BEST.
TO DAVID, PLEASE RAISE YOUR GLASSES.
