GIG was done by David Buchanan, who showed us pics of his trip up to Bowen and pics of a Rotary park where they look to be building a sound shell near a railway line and road.
Director Tony had some Good news about the Market Application.
THE GUEST SPEAKER
Tonight’s Guest speaker was Rod Troutbeck, one of our members. His talk was about safety rails on our roads as well as what he has done and achieved in the way of Formula one race tracks and design and statistics for lap times, he showed us a picture of a Toyota Hilux that ended up on a train track, brought down power lines and just missed a train and the driver who fell asleep survived. He also mentioned quad bikes and how unsafe they were and why they were designed so narrow, it was for the American market for their pathways and trails. It was a very interesting talk, with a lot of work still to be done for the safety of our road users, Rod has many awards for his work and it is an honour to have him as a member of our club.
