Hello Fellow Rotarians,

Last Wednesday, we held our meeting for committees at the Two Buoys Restaurant on a trial basis. By most accounts the venue was suitable in that it was not noisy, the food was very good and at a reasonable price. More on that later.

I was not able to attend on Wednesday because I was invited by the Rosebud/Rye Rotary Club to celebrate their 70th Year as a Rotary Club. The event was excellent. There were a number of speakers relating the early days of the Club and a lot of memorabilia on display. Its history is extensive.

This week we will meet at the SB Sailing club for our formal club meeting. Our speaker will be Mark Morris. Mark is the President of the Mornington Marine Search and Rescue. I look forward to his presentation.

I hope to see you all there.

Happenings at last week’s Meeting

(Before I report on last week, I’d like to address an issue which has occurred for a number of Members. When receiving the Bulletin by e-mail the content can be all, or partially, “scrambled” with strange text and/or colours etc. This is not being caused by anything new in the creation of the Bulletin. It’s being done the same way it has for years. The only difference is a new version of ClubRunner. I don’t know what has happened, but I’ll try and modify the creation process to see if that can fix the problem. If it doesn’t, you will find that the Bulletin version which is on the Club website has no issues so you can pick up the info from there. I’ll repeat this info at the next Meeting. Ed.)

This week we tried a new venue for the Committees Meeting. Two Buoys in Dromana made available their large function area and we gave it a try.

With Charles being absent, Wayne took over. He reiterated that Directors Reports were required before Changeover and then asked Chris for his report.

Chris announced that a Bunnings BBQ was scheduled for 8th June and he would send an email regarding volunteers. Also, the new Club website is about to go live which prompted a short discussion on its content.

A more general discussion broke out on the role and number of Directors within the Club. No doubt a subject which will be brought up again in the future.

After the meal we devolved into our committees for discussion.

Points that came out of these Committees were:
  • The importance and options for publicising the new website;
  • As stallholder response has been less than normal, should the Club consider not having a May market in future; and
  • A Working Bee is to be held at Hillview Reserve to carry out maintenance on the picnic shelter (the Les Liddell Pavillion). A date for this event will be announced shortly with probably only $ members needed to complete the necessary tasks.

After a final summary, Wayne thanked everyone for attending and the Meeting ended at 8:05.

You will receive an email each week requesting that you confirm your attendance at the next meeting by return email of by phone call or text.
