After proposing the Toast and calling for the Invocation, President Mick announced that the President’s duties would be shared by Ross and Rob while he was overseas. Next, he announced the appointments of Members to Club Committees.
Before handing over to the Chair for tonight, Geoff, Mick revealed that, although Agnes had volunteered to take over as International Director, she would be receiving invaluable mentoring from Harry.
Geoff now took the Chair, read out the apologies and called for the Secretary’s Report.
Mark had an extensive report this week which included:
- There had been no communications from the Shire about the Picnic Table. It seems that the Councillors are kept in the dark so the Club will take a wait and see approach;
- Regarding the possible refurbishment of vacant houses on the Peninsular, the Shire doesn’t know of any vacant houses, just vacant land. It seems that the vacant houses are State Government houses which the Shire doesn’t know about;
- Board Minutes are up on ClubRunner;
- The Club AGM will be on the 22nd November, venue to be decided;
- The Community Garden is having a BBQ on 15th October, 11:00 to 14:00;
- The CFA involvement with the Halloween celebrations is still being investigated;
- The December Market will be on the 30th December with the Carols being on the 24th;
- The 4th October visit to the Rosebud/Rye Rotary may not be a partners night;
- The Sea Scouts are silent regarding their visit;
- The next Biard meeting will decide on the Clubs position regarding the Regional Council positions;
- Old Phones are being collected for refurbishment for victim of domestic violence; and
- The Lion are happy to help out at the Market.
Harry remarked on the lack of Partners Nights recently.
Charles updated us on the Polio Plus Movie Night. He is talking with Peter Rawlings and the Cinema Management about various options.
Chris announced that we have about 24 stalls for the Market and he is still searching for a coffee supply. Volunteers this month are ok but he needs numbers for the December Market. Chris also mentioned:
- The Shire has held a forum with Payton Homeless Foundation regarding building on the Peninsular; and
- The Food Plant Solutions Rotary Group develops opportunities for solutions from un-developed areas to be recognised world-wide.
Joseph ran through the various stumbling block that the Halloween Celebration is having. The New CFA Captain is adamant that they will not be involved is supporting fire suppressing, but he is meeting with private contractors as a solution. Cost is unknown. Council Grants for the event may not cover costs but the Club can review and decide.
Geoff called for the Lotto to be drawn and it was won by Mick.
Fines were called for:
- Missed Phonecalls;
- Missing Badges; (an oldie but a goodie.Ed)
- Anniversaries and Birthdays; (likewise. Ed)
- All golf players; (a new one. Ed.)
- Those who’ve had holidays; and
- Late arrivals.
