We are most grateful for the following summary of last week’s meeting that was summarized by Peter the snipper.

Tonight’s meeting was opened by PE Ross with chairman was Chris with Secretary Bob, and guest speaker Mark Long on the head table.

“Well, even though we had very few numbers (fourteen) at last nights meeting, we were still a happy bunch.  Our president Tyrrell was away as was PP Merv and many others.  There were no director’s reports, there were no member reports, apart from Rob letting the Club know about the Teapot Exhibition at the Mornington Peninsula Gallery running this weekend, (a free plug on behalf of Rob’s wife Jane the Gallery’s Director).

The lotto and was won by my good friend David (Grumpy fisherman) Buchanan. The fine session went very quickly as just fined everyone who wanted to make a donation.

THE MAN BEHIND THE BADGE
Our guest speaker was our newest member Mark Long.  Mark was born in 1951 in Brighton to parents of high achievers, Mark said at school teachers said he could always do better, (half the club agreed about there own teachers statements).  He went to work in Tasmania in a can making company, for 5 years.  During this time he joined Apex to meet new people and create new friendships, he said still has these friends today.  During his Apex time he went on to become Zone President of a Zone that included 44 Clubs, and as the structure changed in his year as ZP he will always be the immediate past president of Zone 13.
He is married to his lovely wife Joy and have 2 great kids that they are really proud of. Mark has worked at other jobs over his time in different areas as well as where he is working now (started at the tender age of 64).  He now works in an automotive paints facility and plans to stay there as long as he or they want.

Thank you Mark for you talk it was very good to hear about your history. It is a shame that so many members were missing on the night.
I think the club should do these ‘Man Behind the Badge’ talks more regularly so new and old members can learn about who we have in the club.

Mark was thanked by Ross, given a pen from the club for his appreciation and meeting was closed.”
