Hello Members and Friends of Rotary and future advertisers

Meeting Chairman Ray, and GIG Merv, as last week you thought you could get away from it, HA ,NOT ON MY WATCH.

At last weeks meeting.
Pres Ross opened the meeting with usual Proceedings.
Chairman for the night was Incoming Pres Rob.
Director Secretary Bob spoke about a letter received bye the couple that our club payed for a couple of new tyres for there scooter, they were very graitfull for all those involved in getting it fixed.
Bob also spoke about Max Walker who passed away last week from Melanoma,  Max was a great supporter of Rotary.

The Gig (3 min) was done by Colin Byatt and in his 15 minute talk he spoke about the ride to conference and how our exchange student Emilie would be part of it.He also said that the ride has been going for 16 years now and has raised 1 million dollars so far, he also said some of the organisers are into there 70's, one of the organisers Terry Williams has done the organising now for 12 years. Col also said that forms would be sent out to everyone who has already done the ride.

Director Rob spoke about teaming up with Rye/Rosebud in sponsorship for Emilie.
Rob also spoke about all the club members wearing a funny hat for mental illness day and going to Ritchies, l think if we all went to Ritchies wearing funny hats and wearing our name badges we all might get locked up for escaping from somewhere.
Rob also showed us a video clip , Lift the Lid on Mental Illness, it showed how 1 in 5 people suffer from Mental Illness, and how it affects the community in large , with ambulance , hospitals in the family and emergency services, one of the speakers on  the clip was past Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett, as a spokesman for Beyond Blue also a Mental illness organisation, are teaming up with Rotary Lift the lid in a joint effort to raise funds.

Our guest exchange student Emilie gave us a talk about what trips she has done so far, she enjoyed Phillip island and also the snow with Rick, Carol,Ross and Georgie, Emilie also presented our club with a banner.

Director Chris tried to speak about RYLA and also about our students Dion and Hannah, must of been a hard day at the office he forgot everything, hes not a young man anymore so we can make exceptions.

Roger spoke about the Trailer raffle and how it was going and thanked all members for making his life easy, he said we are selling 9000 tickets this year which is 3,000 more than last year and the tickets will be in black and white and funded bye Roger, Roger also said he would bye all remaining tickets that didn't sell ( just kidding Roger).
Roger also said he was happy to pay the $310.00 for printing of the tickets

Member Ray spoke about the Dromana Pier, and how our local member sent out 4,000 letters and got back 1,000 back, great result, also on Australia day we got 800 signatures for the save the Pier campaign.Ray also said it appeared in the Southern Peninsula News.
I also saw an article in my Face Book page sent to me from Councilor Antonella and her push to keep the momentum going in getting it replaced, Antonella has been a great support for our community, she has supported our club with working out our dishwasher in our club,
And also supported the Pier and our cancer luncheon Fundraiser at the club and our on line Auctions we had.
And on a special not, Ray and Elaine have been Married for 63 years, great effort, l think they will get another 20 years just so they can annoy each other a bit more, congratulations both of you.
Ray also spoke about the art show and due to new rules on QBE insurance, how the name must change to keep us and everyone else covered, it will be called the Rotary Dromana Art Show,

Just a special thanks to all those that helped me again in the kitchen last week as Patty was unwell, a special thanks to Elaine for always being in the kitchen ,even when l kick her out , she always appears back again, and my buddy David B, always there to help set up and give me a hard time, thanks to everyone else for there support, we wouldn't be making as much in our club account if it wasn't for all your support and help.

Peter Health Tip. There is a lot of viruses around at the moment, have you ever thought about ATM's and public toilets ETC and when you touch them, how many other people with bacteria have touched them and passed them onto you, my suggestion is carry a small bottle of disinfectant that you can just rub on, were not going to do it all the time, but if helps once, its worked, carry it in your car or purse( merv).

This weeks joke, enjoy.
This ones for David B.
