President Tyrrell’s Tales

It was a good meeting last week, guest speaker Samantha certainly has an interesting project in the Community Garden and possibly some hurdles to jump to make it a success, possibly we can help in some way.

The resignation of PHF Sue Cashen  is a sad event as Sue has been a pillar of the Club particularly in relation to the Christmas Carols, the many BBQ’s/sausage sizzles and the Art Show.  Sue will be sadly missed however when I spoke to her last week she is considering becoming a Friend of Dromana Rotary and will, where possible, help with some projects.  We are looking for a club member to take ownership of the BBQ/sausage sizzle programme, anyone interested.
I have had a couple of members advise me of their preference for committee membership and as I am about to settle those portfolios I ask members to give the matter their consideration and let me know .
Last Friday evening Bob and Freda Donaldson, Maggie and myself and Sue Cashen attended the Change over at Rosebud Rye.  For a club with only 18 members they certainly do a lot and it is mainly through the support of many volunteers.  On Sunday Bob Donaldson, Maggie and myself attended the District Changeover.  It was an interesting day and we were treated to a speech by DG Merv Williams who outlined his goals for the year.  The day got better in the afternoon when Maggie’s daughter Sarah gave birth to a strapping young baby boy, Alexander.
See you Thursday evening.

Our guest speaker Chris delivered an interesting address last week which generated many questions.  Perhaps we could entice him to do a feature article on the Pump Track and how it is and will benefit bike riders of the community.  It would also demonstrate the cooperation between community and council to bring benefit to the wider community.
If you are able to assist Chairman Greg with his working bee at the park please do so. The project is coming tighter nicely.
Now you have all been advised of your membership of the various committees please join with your Chair to plan and implement a rewarding yea, don’t just leave it to the Chair as many hands make light work.
As I advised last Thursday, there is a Board Meeting following the Club night on Thursday 16th and if any member has any matter they would like raised at the meeting please advise me in advance of the meeting.
It is good to see Mary Andersen is back on deck after her recent accident and that her father is feeling better.

See you Thursday evening.
