Hello Rotarians and Friends of Rotary

Member Roger sang his song for Anzac day to open our meeting, he sang it very well.

Secretary Bob,  spoke about Dromana football club and if any of our members were sponsors of the club, there was.
Red shield appeal on 28th and 29th May and need volunteers for McMcrae,
Centurion club, passed onto Chris Booth.
District assembly is in Churchill next year.

Also reminded Rotarians about Mary Anderson's fundraiser on Saturday 6th May, and asked for volunteers and also members to purchase tickets, we now have about 140 tickets sold up to time of this going out, we have over 30 Rotarians from our club and Rosebud/Rye attending, great Rotarian effort for a great course.

Director Rod, spoke about money to DIK, and how he has contacted people but no answer, so may put effort towards Sky juice.

Member and Past Presadent Lyn Lewis unfortunately shared some bad news about our ex member Sue Cashen's daughter Lisa who had passed away from Cancer aged 40, leaving behind her son Archie aged 6, very sad news , our thoughts are with you suzzie.

Member Col, spoke about the ride to conference with our exchange student Emily, and how money raise was going to Disaster relief,  and how each student donated $1,000.00 toward the fund, he also said the the students loved the ride and some days rode as much as 100km, most ended up with a sore bum on that day, Col was in the lead car (easy way out Col) and o one was allowed to go past him, most enjoyable trip, and asked for Rotarians to go on next ride.

Guest Speaker and exchange student Emily, spoke about the ride to reef, Emily said she loved Ayers Rock and camping out, even though they did meet one of the worlds most dangerous snakes near there tents, she loved the art work , and also went in a helicopter ride over the rock, and also walked around the rock.
She went to Adelaide for one night, went to cooper Peedy, slept under the ground, she enjoyed that, went to an underground cinema, bus trips usually started around 3am, they went to Kings Canyon and walked around it, Emily said it was so different to Norway, they went to Millaa Millaa falls, and Alice Springs, Mt Isa mine tour, then went onto the great Barrier Reef, this also was a highlight of the tour, Emily said most of the students stayed at the back of the boat being sick, or linning up for sea sick tablets, she did an introduction to diving then went onto a bigger dive and loved the coral.
On the way back they stopped at Byron Bay, were they slept in tents, and Emily said the tents flooded and everyone got wet, mobile phones got wet etc, so the next night they decided to sleep in the bus while the driver took them to Sydney, when they arrived they all had trackies or pajamas on and couldn't get changed, so the whole busload walked around Sydney looking pretty odd, easy to spot an exchange studend Emily said.
Overall , Emily had a great time on both trips, enjoyed every part of the experience, she is now living with Lyn Lewis and the Pugs for the next 5 or so weeks.

also one of our members has been of sick this week, Elaine Barnard-Brown, we all wish her well in her recovery, take care xx
