Good evening Rotarians and Friend. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELAINE FOR THURSDAY. Tonights meeting we were lucky to have the D.G Don Ripper and his wife Jude, as well as ADG Linda Morris attend our club, as well as some of the members's wife's attend. Pres Rob took over the Chairmans job for the night. Secretary Bob spoke about Roteract and also Lift the lid. Chairman Rob also invited DG Don to induct Michaele into our club Our guest speaker was District Governor Don, he said he went to 37 changeovers in 40 days, sadly he missed ours, he enjoyed getting back in touch with close friends over the last 30 years, he said our club is 28 members and is within the top half of members, as a lot of clubs have less than 10 members. there are over 8,000 Rotary clubs, with some clubs with very low numbers, they are in the Danger area, in 8 years if we dont change our structure we could be extinct, our average age is over 70 years of age. the 3 people that started Rotary were 37, 39 and 39 years of age, if we want Rotary to survive we need to change and move with the times, we are 112 years old, he mentioned Lions and there existance and how they were started. Paul Harris was the main visionary of Rotary and started Rotary becouse he was Lonely, and used 2 other people to start Rotary, one Jewish,and one German and Harry Ruddles, who taught them how to sing. Don went on to talk about other great stories, including how Round table was bigger than Rotary in there time, Apex and other clubs. He also said India is setting up new districts very quickly. it was a great talk, everyone got something out of it ,and learnt a bit more about Rotary. district governer and Rob recieving his Presadents pin and Tie.
