Good evening Rotarians and friends of Rotary

Meeting was opened by Pres Ross, who welcomed ADG Linda Morris and our guest speaker Fran Henke and her husband

Secretary Bob, spoke about the meeting at the Dromana Primary School with himself and Rob, it doesn't look like the school is interested at the moment to proceed with the art show.
There isman international night for Rye/Rosebud Rotary held at the Rosebud Secondary College on the 20th May, Bob has asked if our club members could attend.
Bunnings BBQ is set for the 19th of May, this is a sunday, all day event, Director Peter will be handling this event and will be organising a
Roster system for volunteers.
Salvation Army red shield appeal is on the 27th and 28th May, our club usually supports this event, Director Peter will organise a roster for this event and speak with Neil from Salvos to organise the entry to our hall for counting the money over the sunday. Roster will be available at next meeting, need groups of 2 to do morning 3 shifts per day, if l remember correctly we do early shift, lunchtime shift then an afternoon shift on both days, we might be able to reduce nombers if volunteers want to do longer shifts, meaning we only need 8 people for tbe whole weekend, discussion on Thursday night.
Bob and Peter also thanked all members and especially Freda for her massive support in helping Mary with her fundraising event, together we worked extremely hard th achieve a great result for Peninsula Health and Rosedub Hospital, the total not yet known but is likely to be beetween $20,000.00 and $25,000.00. This money is allocated for a Cardiac Machine, Mary will contact the Hospital representative to see what else is on there wish list to cover any extra money available.
The Rotarians worked hard in set up and clean up after the event, great effort, and thank you.

Greg mentioned the gateway sign had fallen over and wanted volunteers with gum boots to put it back up.
Greg also mentioned a working bee at hillview reserve the 10th of June, this is a long weekend so hopefully thee is people available.

Director Rob, spoke about the potters coming for a visit to our club.

GIG , was done bye Ray BB, he spoke about the Australia Day meeting , AGM and has set the board for the year, Ray BB is president.
He also spoke about the new housing rules and regulations set out by the Rosebud Council.

Guest speaker Fran Henke
Told a story of a person called Jan, she was born in 1946 with poleo and died in Leongatha in1958.
Fran worked in journalism in London for the sunday timed, she was self educated and took her own photos, she was proud of working in fleet street, she interviewed Dam Elizabeth Merdock and other famous people.
She then started researching poleo as she was a sufferer herself, and how it was mistreated I the early years, thinking it was something else
! She has written a nomber of books relating to Poleo, she can only work limited hours due to poleo fatigue, and currently wears a leg brace which costs $1500 if she wore a full leg brace it would cost $3000 and as she stated as pensioners they become unefordable,  she has approached our government health minister Greg Hunt for funding and has hd his approval.
Fran also said about the treatment they used in the early years, like leg splints to keep you legs straight, boiling water and strapped to a bed so your legs would not bend, they were very painful.
It was a very interesting talk, at the end she asked for assistance financially from our club, this will be taken to the board to see what we can do

ADG Linda also mentioned about bowl screening, and to get checked, l put a copy I last weeks bulletin with locations and Bob also sent it out to all members.
