Reports
President/Elect Tyrrell McGeever announced that Changeover had been brought forward one week to allow DG Charlie Spiers to attend. It will now be held on 18th June at the Safety Beach Sailing Club at a cost of $45.00 per person. Bob Donaldson has taken on the position of secretary with Ross Whitehead now President/Elect. Tyrrell is still seeking a chairman for the Youth portfolio.
Ray Barnard-Brown reported that both defribulators are now installed in the foyers of the OSO and Community Hall buildings.
Peter Anderson has interviewed our NYSF  candidate and now has the appropriate forms completed and dispatched to the District Committee.
Greg Fitzgerald reported that work has begun on the pump track with more fill delivered onsite. Shaping the track will commence before the weather can affect plans too much. He has also been given a time schedule for building of the toilet block at Hillview Reserve.
Greg has approached the Port Phillip Plaza management about installing a Rotary Spinner and received a positive response.
Lyn Lewis  thanked all those who kindly volunteered for the Mother’s Day Walk--- it was a great success in very wintery conditions.
David Jarman spoke on a radio program highlighting the work of Rotarian Peter Drysdale OAM with the RotaHomes project in Fiji.
John Barnes thanked the members who added the new signage to the Rotary Spinner at Dromana Hub. John has collected $79 and $59 for the Dromana Scouts while $156 came in after the signage for the Nepal Earthquake was erected.
Lotto
Tyrrell McGeever won the prize this week.
GIG     Rob Alexander
Rob spoke with much enthusiasm about the District Membership Forum he and Bob Donaldson attended recently. There were 40 dedicated rotarians sharing ideas and motivating each other. A Frankston club decided to conduct a membership drive aiming for 10 new members and have so far added 15. They approached people 50 years and older and will spend time mentoring new members in an effort to retain them. Another club has set up a satellite club and Tyrrell has spoken about this option for Dromana.
Guest Speaker    Jacquie Beddows
Denise, a physiotherapist, introduced Jacquie and the topic she would speak to us about. Jacquie, a stroke victim herself, spoke on her efforts to form a choir for other stroke victims. Sometimes singing is possible when speech maybe difficult. Singing can also improve speech and the group would help with feelings of isolation experienced by victims. Jacquie has the help of Colleen Rees, a music teacher who is involved with several other choirs and has a wonderful voice, who has offered to coordinate the ‘Singing for Wellness ‘ group. Lyn who also attended has difficulty with speech but enjoys singing. The club looks forward to supporting this group in some way.
