Dear all
After a good  Meeting   with  the AG  Linda  arriving  and  2  Mt Eliza Rotarians  coming along  where it was confirmed that   Mt Eliza will go  50% on a Sky Juice project. I have contacted the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills disaster Aide employee to organize a demo  at Australia Day . More importantly DR Ian McIntosh  is a member. I  am sure that  he will be mentored  and welcomed.

Sadly  I had to put down our little black  Labrador  bitch after enjoying her  for 14 years. Not fun.

The board met  after last weeks meeting to discuss budgets. We  need to step up as whole group  and create fun  fund raising  opportunities  an increase our  income as Chris said by about $20K.
The  core fundraising committee  is myself Tony and Harry. This is a support committee  that can  help with your project to optimise  the result.
The working bee was  well attended and everyone  had fun  Antonella  arrived  and worked hard. Merv brought  the banners  and  some of the public planted a few trees.
Next  time in November  prior to Halloween  can we have our meeting  there on a Saturday have sausages a meeting  and Harry and his team Talks to the  Public and we plant  .

Help  need to accelerate bucket preparation see email we are now the bucket club!!!!

LIFT THE LID CAMPAIGN

I just wanted to update your club on some information that may help with the upcoming Lift The Lid Campaign which features extensive advertising for the promotion through Bunnings stores on the 7-8 Oct.

If your club has organized with Bunnings to run a BBQ or set up a table in the foyer on that weekend could you please let me know as the organizers would like to keep Bunnings Head Office up to date on the interest in their public relations offer taken up by Rotary clubs. For clubs who like to think outside the square, don't forget the Trade outlets which have many many workmen going through. Monday is probably the busiest time for those.

Some clubs are running an event or putting collection buckets in their local coffee shop, and some collect at railway stations.  I have a copy of the permit for that should any club need it.  Dromana Rotary club is able to supply as many small buckets as required should your club wish to purchase for a small cost.  They are hoping to become the go to club for donation buckets. Contact Robert  0418812027 email robert@surf.net.au

Lastly should you have an event you would like me to promote through the district please let me know and I will do my best to support your event.

IT HAPPENED LAST MEETING

President Rob declared the meeting open at 6.30 and welcomed all including Linda Morris AG, Jim Young President Elect Mt Eliza and Tim Acton International Director Mt Eliza. Frank Martin was welcomed back after his recent illness and Ian McIntosh was welcomed prior to his induction as a member of Rotary Dromana.

President's Report.

President Rob stressed the need to prepare a budget for the 2017/2018 year. Vins Bins have been approached to provide a electric vehicle (mini size with company markings) for inclusion in the trailer raffle. Also asked for any ideas for fund raising projects. The distribution list for RDU's has been updated and asked everyone to read same as questions may be asked. Antonella Celi has been asked and accepted the role of hosting this years Carols by Candlelight. Reminder of visit from DG Don Ripper on 14 September.

The induction of Ian McIntosh took place. He was inducted by Linda Morris and presented with his badge by Geoff Taylor.

Secretary's report.

A request has been received from the Prostrate Cancer Foundation seeking funding. He also spoke about ALOLA about slavery referencing Timor-Leste. A note has been received from RYLA about people 18-27 being needed for the weekend 27-29 October. Cost is $425 for the weekend.

Harry gave a talk about his trip experiences with Rotary in the islands and shared some of his certificates.

Harry provided a order form for apparel. Showed a sample shirt (approx $27). Stressed the need for new members.

Tony provided a market update. He met with council today and showed plan for stall etc. Council organised visit to look at proposed areas.

He spoke to Rev Paul Woodcock and a meeting has been arranged for 31 August.

Mike advised he is donating a 300 peice drill set for the trailer raffle.

Greg reminded that the working bee at Hillview Reserve is being held this Saturday and outlined the work required. He has organised a meeting tomorrow with the Aboriginal Heritage people re the development of Pat's paddock.

Rotary Club of Dromana Community Market Project
Rotary Club of Dromana Community Market Project
Tony Viney met with the Council on 17 August to discuss the Market layout and associated Vendor/Parton’s Parking requirements prior to submitting a Planning Application for the Market. A meeting is also being arranged to meet the Council Parks representative on site at the Park where the proposed market is to be conducted to review the proposal details.  Following this meeting (hopefully) the next step is to develop a Traffic Management Plan and an Emergency Procedures Plan….. Its a slow process but gather all the evidence and Council support prior to activating the Pubic Consultation process is essential.

A meeting has also been arranged with Reverend Paul Woodcock, Saint Mark’s Anglican Church (beside Ritchies IGA) on 31 August to discuss the opportunity for Rotary to conduct up to 3 Markets or similar in the Church Car Park. This is an interim solution while the Community Market is going through the approval process.  Your input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
