Good evening Rotarians and friends

Firstly a note from one of our members that suffered a heart attack reciently, please read and take notice of his story as it may save your life.
To explain, I felt a little off colour all day last Sunday with what seemed like flu symptoms. Thankfully and by providence the week before, I had visited my doctor with an inkling that something was not quite right...tiredness and discomfort  in the upper chest but no pain.  He preemptively booked me in for tests at Peninsula Private Hospital on the Monday morning

The stress test on the treadmill I failed miserably within about 4 minutes... again no pain at all but totally exhausted of breath.  After further tests during the morning, the doctor was of the opinion  that I had suffered a heart attack episode on Sunday and another during the stress test.

To cut a long story short, I was admitted on the spot and had an angiogram 7.30 Tuesday morning during which 2 stents were inserted in the totally blocked coronary artery.   Luck is everything... being in the right place at the right time.

The doctor said straight out...that without the benefit of quality exercise over the years, the outcome would have been totally different... in fact fatal...not a very happy prospect at all.

But having said all of that and given the caring and attentive efforts of all of the staff at the hospital , I'm thankfully still around and now back at home.

The message is undoubtedly...never ignore warning signs with your health and don't self diagnose - call an ambulance or see your doctor promptly.

Looking forward to getting back to Rotary soon

Regards
Frank Martin

Director Bob spoke about the breakfast for Peninsula Health, Mary Anderson who did the fundraiser with the help of Rotary will be attending.
Bob also mentioned the clothing from Rotary and has also put in an order for hats, caps, and pens and extra few items as well.

Director Peter talked about the Lift the lid at Bunnings, unfortunately we cannot do a BBQ, it  booked out for the year, but we can rattle cans on Sunday the 8th October for whoever can get involved.
Peter also mentioned the Bulletin and if anyone wants anything added to it must contact Peter by email no later than Saturday evening, as he wants to publish it no later that Sunday evening.
Peter also mentioned instead of doing a progressive dinner were we go to 3 different houses, he has suggested we do it all at his house, It was suggested that Rotary pay for the meat from the club account as Elaine and myself have done so well with the meals that we have excess in there and it would be good to give back to the members as it is there in the fist place, he suggested no member pay, but if they could bring either a desert or salad, no date has been set yet, it a member and partner event ONLY.
When a date is set Peter will notify all members.
Also, Peter will be away from the 16th August to the 26th August, l can still do the bulletin if members send me notes and pics, otherwise someone else will have to do it, and as l think Rick will be away and Lyn is away there may be no option, also table clothes, can someone else do them other than Elaine BB, Elaine will be busy enough doing the meal numbers etc,
l have asked Merv to get to the hall early to open for Patty, Bob might be there Early as well to help with hall set up, and Please remember to bring right money these 2 weeks as l'm not there to give change.
