Meeting was opened by Pres Ross.
Chairman Roger McMillan
Seargent Murray Dart.
Secretary Bob spoke about aid in Hatie, also about using the spinner money after we have donated to mental health.
Somers art show is coming up, unfortunately its the same time as ours.
Director Rob spoke about Poleo and other diseases.
Roger spoke about the trailer raffle and how the proof had to be sent back as the tickets were $200.00 each, good if we could get away with it.
And how everything is on track,
Greg mentioned the Halloween event and is having a meeting after Rotary.
Director Peter handed out a brochure for a child overseas that was dropped into his hair salon bye a client, she is needing a special wheel chair for her disability, l have given a copy of the letter to a few members and also for the board to discuss.
Gig was done finally by Merv, Merv had some interesting history from our club.
Last Thursday was our 44th birthday of Dromana Rotary.
In that time there have been 40 different people as President.
5 members have served more than 1 term, and 3 are still in our club.
143 people have been members.
We still have 2 charter members, David Jarmen ,Les Liddel.
21 female members, currently 3.
4 have been President.
38 Paul Harris Fellows, with 11 awarded sapphire pins, 2 sapphires for Ray BB and Geoff Hosking.
This room has been our headquarters since 1989 when the building was Re-furbished.
If you work on 45 Rotary meetings per year our club has held close to 2000.
Thanks Merv for all the stats.
Guest speaker
Mark from Priority One electrical in the Dromana industrial Estate, Mark spoke about using re nuable energy, he said about a property in Main Ridge were they dug out a section the size of a soccer field 2 metres deep and layed black one inch pipe many kilometers long on the ground then back filled it wit the soil that was taken out, this is called thermal heating of the water that passes through it, they also used a similar technique for a house in Portsea for the swimming pool walls to keep the pool at an average temp of 24 , also housed pipes in a cellar for running cold water and running worm water to keep the cellar at a constant 15 all year round.
PLEASE NOT: We are still having trouble working out meals, Elaine and myself can never work out who is coming and who is not, l no a lot of our members do advice us if there not coming but we are still not getting it right, for example the numbers went from 13 to 18 and then back to 15,and finished up being 19 meals in the end, as meals are ordered prior, l had to go buy more meals to make up the difference, We now have members with certain food requirements and need to no if they are coming, this is not a problem if we no.
l tried to get ALL MEMBERS to notify Elaine if they are coming or NOT, in other words every member contacts Elaine with YES or NO, that way we are not sitting there wondering if you are or are not coming,l am happy to do the work i am doing but please make mine
and Elaines job a bit easier,Please contact Elaine by Tuesday evening and late ones either way can contact me by sms or e-mail by Thursday, l can always organise a meal or remove one if l no before 5.00.
